It is ordered that the following allotment be made of The Chief Justice and the Associate Justices of this Court among the circuits, pursuant to Title 28, United States Code, Section 42 and that such allotment be entered of record, effective November 20, 2020.
For the District of Columbia Circuit - John G. Roberts, Jr., Chief Justice
For the First Circuit - Stephen Breyer, Associate Justice (Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island)
For the Second Circuit - Sonia Sotomayor, Associate Justice (Connecticut, New York, Vermont)
For the Third Circuit - Samuel A. Alito, Jr., Associate Justice (Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virgin Island)
For the Fourth Circuit - John G. Roberts, Jr., Chief Justice (Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, Virginia)
For the Fifth Circuit - Samuel A. Alito, Jr., Associate Justice (Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas)
For the Sixth Circuit - Brett M. Kavanaugh, Associate Justice (Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee)
For the Seventh Circuit - Amy Coney Barrett, Associate Justice (Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin)
For the Eighth Circuit - Brett M. Kavanaugh, Associate Justice (Arkansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota)
For the Ninth Circuit - Elena Kagan, Associate Justice (Alaska, Arizona, California, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Nevada, Northern Mariana Islands, Washington)
For the Tenth Circuit - Neil M. Gorsuch, Associate Justice (Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Utah, Wyoming)
For the Eleventh Circuit - Clarence Thomas, Associate Justice (Alabama, Florida, Georgia)
For the Federal Circuit - John G. Roberts, Jr., Chief Justice.
Would have swapped Kagan and Gorsuch.
With 24 days to go before the electoral college vote, injunctions will matter.
But then who will have to break the bad news to Amy?
This is standard when a new justice joins the Court. And it’s also standard for a justice to refer requests from his circuit to the entire court on significant cases where he or she knows the Court is going to be divided. That’s because the rules allow petitioners that are denied by one justice to petition others. And if it IS granted, the losing side can petition the full court to vacate that justice’s stay. By referring it to the whole court, a justice avoids this pointless waste of time and associated drama.
The bottom line is that one shouldn’t read anything into this move or expect too much from the fact that a justice is assigned to a certain circuit. It matters, but not that much.
Also Clarence Thomas on GA
Well Iโm just a trucker but yeah. Sure the courts are apolitical and this is standard and no reason at all Democrats should worry their little heads about it. Just how it happened to shake out without any planning or thought.
;-)
Love the assignments. If I’m not mistaken, Thomas has always had jurisdiction over Georgia. I remember Kennedy had jurisdiction over Florida during Bush v Gore and he shut the mess down unilaterally!
Continue in prayer with Thanksgiving! Victory is ours!
I do believe most of these are unchanged, as they reflect where the Justices themselves are from where possible.
E.g., Alito had PA previously and I am pretty sure Thomas had the GA chunk of the South.
Barrett has now been given a swath of the Midwest that includes IN.
Swamp creature that he is, Roberts already had DC.

Yeah, I got “Cornpop” Thomas in #19. That’s no dis at all against the Honorable Justice Thomas - it’s all on Biden for lying about some made-up guy he called “cornpop,” and a reminder of how horribly Biden treated Thomas at his confirmation hearing.
FYI, Arizona commissioners just certified. The SoS hasn’t but will (she’s a D who hates Trump). Only 1 of 4 Republican commissioners refused to certify (the D did of course)
The math now says that if GA isn’t flipped, the other three won’t matter.

I have a warm feeling knowing Thomas has my state of Florida.
We are in trouble in Nevada and Arizona
LS, it is clear now you called the election right, and it was a landslide for Trump and Republicans (before fraud).
Please stop moping! Your voice is still needed.
Did you see the Dershowitz interview with John Solomon?
Dersh says that if PA and one other state can be decertified (not flipped!) then it denies ChinaBiden 270 and election goes to the House. That’s what Dersh says the true strategy is.
And he points out this does not even take into account the situation if Sidney Powell can prove computer fraud.
Not moping.
I think they FINALLY have the right “jury” or audience for the fraud stuff, the state legislators they are flying into the WH.
There may not be enough to put Trump votes back on the board. We may be stuck fighting to not submit Biteme slates in four states and letting the House decide.
