What if ladybugs looked like spiders?
Posted on 11/08/2020 8:22:20 AM PST by SamAdams76
Would girls still let them crawl up their arms if they didn't have the pretty shell and looked like spiders instead?
Serious question. Please, no humorous replies.

Then they wouldn’t fit their niche as well, so there’d have to be some other bug that looked like ladybugs.

Wouldnt they then be spiders?

Would they still have big fangs and venom?

Wolf spiders are actually beneficial in your house. They kill other insects, including brown recluses. And they don’t bite humans.

Same here. Looking for a reasonable explanation though.
BTW, the ladybugs are out in force on my back deck this lovely Sunday morning, where it will be in the low 70s on a November day!
My wife is allowing the ladybugs to land all over her. It it was a spider, she'd be back in the house for the rest of the day - guaranteed.

Im going to go out on a limb, and guess you are setting up an analogy. Todays liberal politicians look like pretty ladybugs. And so they get the votes. But they are actually spider-like.

Kids play with ladybugs *because* of the way the bugs look.
If ladybugs looked like spiders, the only kids, male or female, that would play with them also already play with spiders.
Duh.

But without the shiny, pretty shell, they might very well look like spiders. That’s my point. If spiders were covered in a pretty shell, girls might let them crawl all over them.

Now see, that was not at all humorous to some people.

Get a spider. Call it a ladybug. Find out.

I guess beauty can be tolerated. Even in a bug.

I love spiders, ladybugs, and all kinds of insects and creepy-crawlies. If a dog looked like a cat, I would love it too. How does one answer such abstractions, other than yeah.
