Protestors in Philadelphia assaulted a bunch of police officers because they are mad that a police officer shot and killed Walter Wallace Jr., a violent serial criminal who was running at him while waving a knife.
Instead of assaulting police officers, I suggest that these protestors become police officers, and then they can show us the proper way for a police officer to respond to a dangerous serial criminal who is running at them while waving a knife.
I don’t think they have any problem with the way it was handled:
1. First, you shoot the lunatic threatening you with a knife.
2. Then you riot and loot to your hearts content. Call it grieving, celebration, whatever.
Rinse and repeat.
Actually, I felt bad for the family. Theyre being pushed to condemn the police, but they know the situation.
They had already called the police twice that day because he was threatening them, and this was their third call. I saw one of the relatives say, well, we really wanted an ambulance. So when somebody comes out waving a large knife, what are the EMTs supposed to do?
Walter Wallace was mentally ill, his family had been trying to deal with it, but as usual they couldnt get him committed because that doesnt exist anymore. They should attack the city and state mental health care system and not the police.
Its a solution Ive recommend for years. Put up ads in all all these neighborhoods.
“Dont like how the police operate? Then become one in your own neighborhood and change things.”
All of the city administrators should be forced to undergo mandatory sensitivity training which includes ride-alongs with police officers. Let them see firsthand what law enforcement officers endure on a daily basis.
And that’s how you get more corrupt police officers.
People watching this unfold were yelling at the police “he’s mental, he’s mental” - as though the knife wouldn’t have drawn blood if he were mental instead of just a murderous thug......
I have witnessed escalated incidents in the city. It is just emotionally draining and actually quite scary to see human behavior that goes beyond civil and sane. A good percentage of people need mental health treatment and they live among us. Do not come to these cities right now for your own good. I talked to a trucker last night who had to deliver along Delaware Avenue in Philly and he says all the truckers are carrying and the police will not/cannot protect much of anything even themselves at this point.
Hire some Nigerian police. The Philadelphia scum will be begging for the old police.
I’ve got one niece who was living in Philly with a couple of other girls - they broke their lease and don’t go near the place any more - got another - a physician who lives in the city with her family - I worry about them all the time - I’m being followed by a doctor at Jefferson for some major problems - luckily we’ve been able to do televisits because of Covid - we’re both agreed that hopefully I’ll never have to actually go into the city again as long as I’m getting care - it’s scary.......
They should know the situation. They were there.
The rioters say that the proper way to deal with knife-wielding maniacs is to hold your 9 sideways, then poke it at the target each time you yank the trigger (pokin’ cancels out yankin’ thus limiting hits on bystanders to only 75%). Also, affect a sneering facial expression.
Yes, and they called for help three times. The police came every time but couldnt do anything. I dont know if the family refused to have him taken to the hospital or what. But in any case, domestic violence calls (which this would have been, since he was threatening his family) are the most dangerous of all.
Three people in Nice, France were just murdered by a man with a knife. But somehow cops in the USA are not supposed to shoot such madmen?
