President Trump scored a town hall meeting with NBC News, directly competing with one scheduled on ABC News for Joe Biden.
The dueling town halls will take place tonight at 8 pm Eastern.
Originally, the second presidential debate was supposed to take place during this time slot.
The October 15th debate had been thrown up in the air after President Trumps positive coronavirus diagnosis, though he has since been cleared to appear.
Still, the Commission on Presidential Debates sought to change it to a virtual format.
They would eventually cancel it outright, prompting both campaigns to seek alternative means to get their message out to the American people.
...
Competing head-to-head against Biden will almost assuredly mean more viewers for the Trump town hall and NBC.

It will be more sad than funny. A Clinton insider helping a demented struggling old man thru a Q&A with supporters.
He will, but NBC isn’t stupid. They had to agree to it. CBS has Catherine Herridge, and I can’t quite figure out why.
These media outlets may be hedging a little. If Trump wins, there may be a purge and an apologia to follow from all but ABC, which I think may be so corrupt it just goes away.
The bet here is that Trump will have more viewers than Biden by a minimum of 2-1.
Another brilliant tactical move by Trump.
ABC: Vice President and soon to be President of The USA Biden, what flavor ice cream do you favor and why?
NBC: Mr. Trump, why did you wait so long on Covid while millions died?
Rather than a ‘town hall’ - dueling speeches..
Be great if they snipped in stuff from the competing event for an answer !
Step by is gonna ask softball questions. Please, Vice President Biden talk about the difficulties for your son in dealing with his addiction,
Nothing about corruption. Guaran damned teed.
I would think fewer viewers tuning in to watch BiteMe self-destruct would be a good thing as far as his handlers are concerned...
The Commission is a Leftist joke.
Wanna know what is even more delicious?
The cable media either won’t carry any of it or...they will have to pay YUGE money to carry any one of the feeds.
Both?
They don’t have that kind of money.
And, because of copyright laws, the other media outlets can’t run a play-by-play of the townhalls.
Trump is “heaping hot coals on” the head of NBC through his kindness.
And C-Span.
And PBS (Judy haz the sadz).
I think Joe will have a meltdown or he will be pumped with meds to prop him up.
Trump will get at least twice as many viewers. No one is interested in listening to Biden respond to scripted softball questions from Biden voters. They would rather listen to Trump respond to hostile questions fired at him to handpicked Trump haters.
Not with Stephy rubbing his back and holding his hand.
True!
I may channel surf to watch some of that but will tune in to Trump the majority of the time.
You obviously haven't seen a Biden "town hall."
Planted simp questions, pre-canned answers.
Or, it could make you up chuck your dinner, if you imagine him as President.
He is doing just fine, no one on his staff has informed about any of this.
“Taking the wind out of their sails is what comes to mind when I think of this. :)”
Sounds as though SloJo has missed the boat.
While I’m sure PDJT will blaze all over Joe I’m also very curious about how Joe will do for 1-1/2hrs ON HIS OWN. Surely corruption will come up? Surely his bragging about getting prosecutors fired will come up? Surely the Russia hoax and his knowledge of it will come up?
Right? ...or, if not, it’ll be a pathetic display of garbage, predetermined, softball questions - given to the audience.
...but if somebody went off script and refused to read the assigned question...if that were to happen, I wouldn’t want to miss it!!!
