Dorsey released his statement in a tweet Wednesday night hours after a number of high-profile Republicans, including Sen. Josh Hawley, blasted the social media giant for blocking the stories from being shared on the platform.
Our communication around our actions on the @nypost article was not great. And blocking URL sharing via tweet or DM with zero context as to why were blocking: unacceptable, Dorsey wrote in the tweet.
Twitter blocked users from sharing an article that indicated Hunter Biden introduced his father Joe to a Ukranian businessman charging that hacked materials were used in the story.
The company also locked the Posts main Twitter account, which is still inactive, hours after it went dark Wednesday afternoon.
Social media giant Facebook also said it would limit the spread of the article, pending a review by independent fact checkers.
Incensed by the move, Sen. Hawley sent letters to both companies, demanding answers as to why the platforms censored the stories.
@Twitter @jack this is not nearly good enough. In fact, its a joke. Its downright insulting. I will ask you and @Facebook to give an explanation UNDER OATH to the Senate subcommittee I chair. These are potential violations of election law, and thats a crime, he wrote in a tweet.

AND......????
So, what you going to do about it Soy Boy?
Wow, Twitter and Facebook got sternly worded letters! Oh, the horrors!
Twitters actions today makes @HawleyMO look like a prophet and Twitter now needs to be razed. This isnt censorship. This is actively taking a side in the election.— Erick Erickson (@EWErickson) October 14, 2020
Next week when the full Senate returns we should VOTE on my bill allowing Americans to sue #BigTech for censorship & unfair treatment— Josh Hawley (@HawleyMO) October 14, 2020

Who is being fired over this? If I had to guess it would be no one. The person might actually get a bonus.
Unacceptable is a strong word. What will be the strong consequence to it?
AND nothing will be done about it other then a few remarks maybe in person
Time to bust these blood suckers.
It was unacceptable but they still did it. Both you tube and twitter will pull posts or articles that tell the truth about the Democrats in seconds.
Stay tuned. They’re making big tech collusion and the Hunter biden story bigger than it was going to be.
And no consequences? Im fuming!
“Unacceptable” is a stern sounding word that is meaningless if there are no consequences associated with it.
i agree, seems like a twin own-goal
Trump has more ammo to get section 230 repealed. Thank you.
Twitter, Facebook censor Post over Hunter Biden exposé!
US Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) fired off a letter to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Wednesday demanding answers about why the platform censored The Posts reporting.
The seemingly selective nature of this public intervention suggests partiality on the part of Facebook, Hawley wrote. And your efforts to suppress the distribution of content revealing potentially unethical activity by a candidate for president raises a number of additional questions, to which I expect responses immediately.
Hawley later sent a similar letter to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, blasting the company for what he said was an unusual intervention that is not universally applied to all content.
The senator demanded to know how Twitter had determined that The Posts story was violating its policy on hacked materials and why the company had taken the unprecedented action to lock the news orgs account.
I ask that you immediately answer these questions and provide the necessary justifications so that your users can feel confident that you are not seeking to influence the outcome of the presidential election with your content removal decisions, Hawley wrote.

Wow, it looks like they had this all practiced up in the case the Hillary emails hit the net.
The left is into censorship, not the right, and this twit has given us a load of ammunition.
