A University of Illinois student was evicted from his dorm and fired from his job as a resident assistant after refusing to quarantine per orders of the Champaign-Urbana Public Health Department. He told CBS 2 in Chicago and Campus Reform that he has never tested positive for COVID-19 and that this is all a mistake.
Im being penalized, Xavier Josephs told CBS2. I lost my RA position."
I pose no health risk to any student, added Josephs, who is facing possible dismissal from the school after being notified by the Champaign Urbana Public Health Department that he had contact with an individual who tested positive and must therefore immediately quarantine.
Xavier has not been told the identity of the individual due to HIPAA restrictions.
U Illinois students are required to quarantine for at least fourteen days if instructed by the Champaign Urbana Public Health Department, according to the universitys quarantine and isolation guidelines.
The university maintains an expansive contract tracing system, both through the Champaign Urbana Public Health Department and its Safer Illinois app. Students who receive a contact tracing phone call from the Champaign Urbana Public Health Department must answer it immediately and abide by all department demands. Students who refuse to follow their directions face immediate suspension....

I don't see how things like this don't shift at lead 500K college student votes from D to R.
This guy would have had to go to a quarantine dorm that was full of people who did test positive and he didn't think that was safe. He has a point.
Couldn't he argue that he was wearing mask all the time whenever he was around people and he theoretically should't get infected?
I dont know what he should argue...it would be tempting to tell everybody off.
See tagline
Unfortunately, the university may be correct to require this student to quarantine, assuming he was in contact with that diseased individual. The university should allow him to know who that person was. Maybe it was mistaken identity. Maybe they never were in close proximity.
Think of it this way; would the same university ask this of a student who may have been near somebody with Hepatitis or TB?
Yes, they would.
But they wouldn’t if it were the flu or strep throat.
And in-person classes and life in general do not stop because there are always a few people getting TB or hepatitis.
Time to bring in big time lawyers and sue the hell out of the university and anyone else involved in this act of tyranny.
Its real simple. Quarantine is when you restrict the movement of sick people. Tyranny is when you restrict the movement of healthy people. Stupidity is when you cannot tell the difference.*

My daughter is in college with 3 roommates. They all tested positive and got moved into an isolated area. Daughter tested negative. But still had her quarantined in her room. I questioned that but she was okay and didn’t mind. All’s fine now thank goodness.
“He’s a WITCH!!!”
“Burn Him!”
“Does he weigh as much as a duck?”
Are all their classes virtual? It seems really crazy to me that kids are living in dorms or in apartments near college campuses when all their classes are virtual. They surely are not staying in their rooms all the time. There must be some socializing going on.
If they wanted to be 100% sure of not getting around other people with coronavirus, they would live at home and look at the video screens from home. It is certainly understandable that they do not want to do that
I’m glad your daughter remained negative. Many times it’s just the luck of the draw that decides.
Just horse poop. Again. As if more reasons to hate modernity are required. Sheer foppery. Stupidity. A bunch of monkeys chewing on flyswatters.
The idiotocracy is well in hand. Mindless vacuous sheep in vain search for a coherent thought. Propagandized but never taught to THINK. Silly little children with adult credentials. Sad.
It’s all about the almighty dollar. The school set up a single class a week. And make them stay in The dorm the freshman year. At 6600.00 a year, x’s 4, that room is invaluable to them.
And yes, the kids are going to socialize. That’s like telling a waterfall to stop running. Ain’t goina happen.
Her final class is mid-November so she’ll be home till the first of next year.
My wife and I know people there and one Christian lady told my wife that it was only fair and reasonable and nothing will likely get that bad, and if it did, the city needed it for a reason.
My mouth dropped open when she told me this.
Is your daughter at the U of I?
What’s U I? University of Iowa?
No, Texas Tech in Lubbock, TX.
University of Illinois - Urbana/Champaign.
