The office of POTUS is NOT a "lid" job. It is a 24/7 type of job, you cannot decide at 8 or 9 in the morning that you aren't feeling up to doing the job that day and just go back to your "basement".
If he cannot campaign on a daily basis, how is he going to be POTUS every day of the week, from early in the morning til late at night?
