I saw a cluster of three of them at sea one time...only one made it to the water the other two fizzled out. When the one touched the water...it changed in color and density, then it fizzled out too.

Happens with a warm summer, thereby warm water temperatures, and a noce frosty cold front coming in from Canada.

I was Erie a number of years and saw a spout about a mile/half away; it was so astounding I didn’t even try to outrun it. About 1/4 mile away, it dissipated but left about 6 to 8 inches of rain in the bottom of the boat.

Of the Great Lakes, Eerie is the most primed to generate waterspouts since the lake is shallow and heats up faster.

Besides Eerie, then there's Soupearia, Mishagun, Awntearia, and Urine.
