I'm noticing more and more businesses such as car dealerships are advertising "long weekend" sales.
Columbus day was created in America after a wave of around 50 lynchings of Sicilians and Italians in Louisiana from around 1892-1920.
It was literally an anti-racist holiday meant to bring Americans to understand the contributions of Italians and to fight negative stereotypes.
When they attack Columbus day, they are literally fighting to kill an anti-racist holiday.
It was Hobby King, not Horizon Hobby - sorry about the error!
I haven’t noticed Columbus Day being referred to period. It’s the unholiday. Always has been in the corner of the world I live in. Even trash pickup is happening.
Bartholomew de las Cosas, a Spanish monk in the “New World” had witnessed these atrocities and vigorously spoke out against them...Spain eventually removed Columbus from power and put him in jail...
Yeah bullsquirt. Indians have a long and illustrious history of slavery, kidnapping, mass murder, border wars, conquest and rape. So spare me the selective indignation.
Ask Rachel Plummer what she thinks about indians running for the fainting couch about Columbus
You are spared.....
In NM it is indigenous peoples day
white eyes need not apply for store discounts /jk
I am part Ani Yun Wiya myself...
beautiful island, but majority of Cruzians are wratchet scum...
Right up there with the “Washington football team.”
I am part mohawk (not 1/1024th) and of french-canadian descent. It still is Columbus Day to me.
Pretty much, I suffer from seeing Indians and their societies like they are actually normal human being people. Some were magnificent, some built wonderful cultures. Others were flaming murderous raping A-holes and do not deserve anything but contempt.
So to me talking about “indians” is like talking about Americans. Are you talking about a decent man living in a small town in west Texas, or about a street thug in Baltimore?
As for Columbus being fired and arrested. He was held for 6 weeks, had money restored, and was funded for a 4th voyage. But he had the Governor title removed. It was a political charge ina world of monarchy and not some sort of morality based charge as Howard Zinn and the revisionists would have us believe.
The reality... Circa 1500, absolutely nobody was treating their fellow man very well. Henry the 8th was running England, Martin Luther was starting his reformation and was a flaming a-hole to Jews, the Japs were murdering anyone who showed up uninvited, the Spanish inquisition was torturing and murdering. Russia was no place to be. Slaves were being caught and traded all over Africa and moslem pirates were raiding coastal euro towns for rape and pillage. And Aztecs and Mayans were mass murdering and ripping hearts out.
It seems a little disingenuous to single out poor Columbo...
“...It seems a little disingenuous to single out poor Columbo...”
The thread was about Columbus...he was already “singled out” just by the thread...
I am from East Tennessee mountains...My bloodline is Scots/Irish and Tsalagi (Ani Yun Wiya or Cherokee)...In other words, a drunk Indian...LOL
My ancestors were totally different from the nomadic tribes of the west...
I just checked my android. It's got BOTH titles on that day.
Mine does, too. Am trying to figure out how to delete the new one. Disgusting PC crap. I’m so tired of it.
