1,563-Word NYT Venezuela Oil Crash Essay Didn’t Mention Socialism Once
NewsBusters ^ | 10/8/2020 | Joseph Vazquez

Leave it to The New York Times (The Times) to publish a 1,000-plus-word story on the failed state of Venezuela’s collapsing oil sector without saying anything about socialism.

In the story headlined “Venezuela, Once an Oil Giant, Reaches the End of an Era,” The Times blamed America and made it appear that the Venezuelan oil sector was imploding due simply to “gross mismanagement.” “Venezuela’s colossal oil sector, which shaped the country and the international energy market for a century, has come to a near halt, with production reduced to a trickle by years of gross mismanagement and American sanctions,” The Times said.

The 1,563-word essay even mentioned that “The collapse is leaving behind a destroyed economy and a devastated environment, and, many analysts say, bringing to an end the era of Venezuela as an energy powerhouse.” But nowhere in the long article is the word “socialism” even mentioned or blamed. Apparently, that’s become taboo for the left-wing Times.

Did the New York Times mention that “some people did something” in Venezuela? Because that would pretty much explain it all.

It had nothing to do with seizing and nationalizing oil industry assets that were paid for by corporations. Nothing whatsoever. I mean, oil companies should be clamoring for that next development contract!

The communists socialists nationalized the oil business and we all left. Then it fell apart.

Any more than that from the NYT is just fluff. It is a 15 word story.

We need a New York Times crash.
The mismanagement is self-evident.

with production reduced to a trickle by years of gross mismanagement and American sanctions,” The Times said.

That latter part is the core statement of the article. Never mind some mismanagement. NYT = America's fault. Always.

“Venezuela’s colossal oil sector, which shaped the country and the international energy market for a century” Nonsense. Aramco did that long before. At one time, 25% of all world commerce went through the gulf of Hormuz, not Venezuela. The NY Slime is nothing more than commie propaganda.

The New York Times assisted with mass starvation during the Stalin years too... won a damn Pulitzer for it... .

The NYT's covers for criminals, totalitarians, and thugs... (as long as they're left-wing thugs) They hate middle class people with families who attend Church and love their country. They share that with the FBI ...

Some Freepers have posted Venezuela got what it deserves because its people voted for Socialists. I think Chavez stole the election and if we don’t stop the RATs from doing so here we are next on the list for failures of socialism.

That pretty well sums it up.
Their oil is a heavy sour type that requires certain technology and expertise to refine. That technology/expertise resides with the USA. In other words, they crapped a massive load of socialist diarrha in their own mess kits.

Chavez put people in place to run the refineries that were political types. They did zero maintenance on the plants.
They didn’t do any upgrades. So the plants slowly became incompetent just like their leaders.

PDVSA used to be a world player. Now they are a dead man walking.

Hugo Chavez - “There will be no more meritocracy,” (massive explosion, at the Amuay refinery, part of a 955,000-barrel-a-day complex, that has become the second deadliest in the history of the oil industry and the worst ever in the Western Hemisphere.)

Socialism sucks so bad you can literally be living on top of trillions of dollars and not have a bolívar soberano to your nombre.
