Barr/Durham Produce Bupkis on Spygate, but DOJ Remains Productive on Other Fronts
DB Daily Update ^ | David Blackmon

Posted on 09/21/2020 6:52:55 AM PDT by EyesOfTX

Just a reminder that today is the last day of summer, which represents the deadline that Attorney General William Barr set for the American public to finally see the bearing of some fruit from the John Durham investigation into Spygate and Obamagate. Barr has been non-committal about whether that fruit would come in the form of a report, or in spectacle of the unsealing of indictments and arrests of some of the players.

Obviously, Mr. Durham is not going to produce a report today or anytime soon. Any such report would have been leaked by now to the New York Times and Washington Post as the result of the sieve-like vetting process within the Department of Justice. Given the lack of any rumors flying around this morning, it is also apparent that Durham won’t be making any arrests on this particular day.

Thus, Barr’s “end of summer” deadline will pass quietly, just as all of his earlier fake deadlines passed without event. As of midnight tonight, it will be safe for us all to assume that Durham and Barr will next use the looming elections as their excuse for further delay. No word on what excuse they will come up with after President Donald Trump wins re-election on November 3, but we can be sure they’ve already thought about that.

Replay Unmute Fullscreen Two Former Army Officers Telegraph the Democrat Plan for Post-Election Chaos VDO.AI But the Barr/Durham inaction on the coup d’etat front doesn’t mean there is nothing good happening at the Justice Department. This morning, news broke that the DOJ has now formally designated New York City, Portland and Seattle as “anarchist jurisdictions” that are now subject to revocation of billions of dollars in federal funding.

From a report at the New York Post:

New York City was among three cities labeled “anarchist jurisdictions” by the Justice Department on Sunday and targeted to lose federal money for failing to control protesters and defunding cops, The Post has learned.

Portland, Ore., and Seattle, Wash., were the other two cities on the list, which was approved by US Attorney General William Barr.

“When state and local leaders impede their own law-enforcement officers and agencies from doing their jobs, it endangers innocent citizens who deserve to be protected, including those who are trying to peacefully assemble and protest,” Barr said in a statement set to be released Monday.

“We cannot allow federal tax dollars to be wasted when the safety of the citizenry hangs in the balance,’’ the AG added.

“It is my hope that the cities identified by the Department of Justice today will reverse course and become serious about performing the basic function of government and start protecting their own citizens.”

White House Budget Director Russ Vought is set to issue guidance to federal agencies on withdrawing funds from the cities in less than two weeks.

[End]

As noted by the Post, the DOJ action is in response to an executive order issued by President Donald Trump a few weeks ago:

The “anarchist’’ designations come after President Trump earlier this month issued a memo ordering financial retribution against cities that have been slashing their police budgets during crime waves, or tolerating violent protests sparked by the May killing of George Floyd by Minnesota police.

At the time, New York Gov. Cuomo infamously reacted by warning Trump he should watch his step in the state. “He better have an army if he thinks he’s gonna walk down the street in New York,” the Democratic governor said. “He can’t have enough bodyguards to walk through New York City, people don’t want to have anything to do with him.”

The Big Apple made the Justice Department’s list in part because its City Council approved a budget in July that cut $1 billion from the NYPD’s $6 billion annual budget — even as murders and shootings in Gotham soared.

In July, the number of shootings in New York City skyrocketed 177 percent over the same period last year, and there was a 59 percent rise in murders. In August, city shootings soared 165 percent, while murders jumped about 50 percent.

The Justice Department said it also considered the fact that at least some of the city’s district attorneys have declined to prosecute people arrested for disorderly conduct and unlawful assembly during recent protests.

[End]

So, while Barr now appears to have abandoned any effort to truly correct the two-tiered system of justice that the DC Swamp has established over the past quarter century, at least he continues to be productive in other areas.

No doubt the three cities named on Sunday will file court challenges to this DOJ action, and no doubt they will find some Obama appointee in Hawaii or somewhere else in the 9th Circuit’s jurisdiction to issue a national injunction. But, if the President appoints and the senate confirms another constitutionalist to the Supreme court over the next 43 days, this policy will no doubt become successful and be expanded other anarchist Democrat cities like Minneapolis and Chicago.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of people.

That is all.

“Barr/Durham Produce Bupkis on Spygate”

Hey now, perhaps Bilbo’s rendition of Bupkis on the bagpipes was worth waiting for.

I doubt he was thinking about the equinox when he said “summer”. but, by all means, let’s find a reason to lose it.

I took end of summer as a Jethro Bodine “near bout time” type statement. Had he meant an actual date, he would have said an actual date.

My patience is wearing thin on this though. The clock is running out and if something doesn’t happen soon, it never will.

Ginsburg put the final nail into any hope of a substantive move by the Barr DOJ against the coupists.

I always suspected that Durham’s “investigation” would totally disappear if Trump loses, but if he wins, it will be announced that there was “wrongdoing” but nothing criminal, and then would be drump into the nearest dumpster.

NeverTrumpers Unhinged Over Their Growing Irrelevance
American Thinker.com ^ | September 21, 2020 | Brian C. Joondeph

Washington D.C. has always been a club, with decorum and strict membership rules. Most of us are not in this club and would have no desire to join if offered membership based on our morals, ethics, and a desire to look at ourselves in the mirror every day without being disgusted.

George Carlin said it best, “It’s a big club, and you ain’t in it.” The club goes by many names – deep state, swamp, uniparty – and the club charter is quite clear, outlined ironically by someone not in the club, blackballed by the membership committee. President Trump, before the 2016 election described the club as follows and offered an alternative for the deplorables not in the “big club”,

Our movement is about replacing a failed and corrupt political establishment with a new government controlled by you, the American People. There is nothing the political establishment will not do, and no lie they will not tell, to hold on to their prestige and power at your expense. The Washington establishment, and the financial and media corporations that fund it, exists for only one reason: to protect and enrich itself.

NeverTrumpers represent the Republican side of the uniparty. They opposed Trump’s candidacy, presidency, and upcoming reelection. As the 2020 election approaches, their derangement is ratcheting up. Any pretense of conservatism being tossed out the window to disparage Trump and prevent his reelection. The passing of Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg will increase their caterwauling by an order of magnitude.

Yup. Two tiered “justice” system is right.

We have now seen outrageous, unjust arrests of Republicans for minor process offenses, usually fibbing or stretching the truth.

Armed SWAT teams, heavy machine guns, helicopters, MRAPs and flash bangs, all to arrest a guy for...saying something that Amy Berman Jackson dislikes.

If a Rat like David Craig or Kevin Clinesmith does it?

Sweetness and light. A short trip to the federal courthouse, a drink with the Fed DA, a quick resolution, handshakes and everything’s fine, get on with life.

For the Republican?

A lifetime of endless legal assault, the modern equivalent of an Auto Da Fe for the Un-Believers.

The Inquisition has been resurrected by the same gangsters who brought it on us 600 years ago, and rule again by its terror.

“Obviously, Mr. Durham is not going to produce a report today or anytime soon.“

Of course not. It would be bad politics for Trump to try and put his political adversaries in jail.

The voters like to decide the fate of political criminals - the punishment is not jail - it is political banishment.

Although it is not as satisfying to some, political banishment is a far more permanent solution than jail.

Take Hillary Clinton for example - a complete political “has been“ loser. If President Trump were to “lock her up”, he would be resurrecting her from the abyss, and offering her political immortality.

Over night, she would be hailed as a martyr and a folk hero, and President Trump would finally “prove“ himself the tyrant the Left always claimed he would be.

Not just Hillary Clinton - all of Obama’s SpyGate minions have been stuck in political limbo during President Trump’s first term - at a political crossroads - awaiting either martyrdom or political banishment to the dustbin of history - depending on what Trump orders his DOJ to do.

If they are indicted and jailed, they would spend some time in a club med type prison, polishing their martyrdom credentials, awaiting full pardon and heroes reception by the next Democrat administration.

If they are allowed to “walk”, and President Trump is re-elected - they are finished. No one will want to hear their tales of a failed coup attempt. By 2024 (or more likely 2032 after two terms of Pence/Owens) these old Spygate “has beens” will be rotting in their graves - forgotten.

I think President Trump has chosen wisely not to turn these criminals into instant martyrs and folk heroes.

The American people want President Trump to make America Great Again - they will deal with these failed coup plotters, by relegating them to the dustbin of history.

What a laugh. DC is a cesspool. There is no justice department or other.

None of the high level traitors DC face justice. We-The-People demand that those demonic creatures who swarm DC be brought to complete and total justice. All of them.
Nothing less.

It’s “bad politics” to try to stop an ongoing coup? You really believe that? Do you think General Flynn considers it bad politics? Do you think George Papadopolous (whose wife miscarried after a brutal all day session sans legal counsel with Mueller’s FBI thugs) thinks it’s bad politics?

This isn’t politics. Real crimes are being committed that you are I would spend years in federal prison for.

Either we are a nation of laws or we are nation of men. It’s a time for choosing. Choose wisely my FRiend. It’s that simple.

Its time for an end run and declassify and release everything in the last week of October with the intent of humiliating both these deep state douchebags. All he has to say is that “ there are over 40 books either of them could have bought on Amazon to find out what happened. Instead they are both deep state actors who are covering for democraps. Now you know the truth and they are both fired effective immediately. I’ll appoint my own person to investigate this 4 year old crime as well as their own personal involvement in continuing the coverup, and allowing criminality to continue in the DOJ!”

“Choose wisely my FRiend. It’s that simple.“

It’s not my choice, or yours.

It is President Trump’s choice, and he has chosen.

He is President.

Four years later, with four different AGs (or acting AGs), none of the SpyGate coconspirators are any closer to being put in jail.

You can go ahead blame it on Rod Rosenstein, or Jeff Sessions, or Mitch McConnell, or whomever - I‘ve heard it all a thousand times:

(The President couldn’t fire Sessions or Mueller or Rosenstein because McConnell wouldn’t confirm a replacement AG. If President Trump fired anyone or otherwise obstructed the Mueller witch hunt, the RINOs would join the Democrats and impeach him. The deep state was too entrenched, the intelligence community was too weaponized, the politicians were too compromised.)

Well, that’s all true.. which really proves my point - that it would have been bad politics to pursue it at the time. It would have been a political fight Trump couldn’t win.

And apparently, it still is bad politics to this day, because here we are, three acting AGs later, and the DOJ is still overcome by the same paralysis - the President is STILL taking a hands off approach.

If it isn’t politics, then what do you think is causing it?

Listen, I would like to see them frog marched into federal prison in orange jump suits. I’m just as FRustrated as you..

I just think that if there was any way for President Trump to have them locked up and still survive politically - he would have made it happen. And yet he didn’t. Why?

There is only one possible explanation for the SpyGate coconspirators not being indicted yet - President Trump didn’t think it was prudent.

Politics isn’t just about pandering for votes and keeping the base happy. Politics is also about making sure you get re-elected so you can survive to fight the good fight another day. There’s nothing wrong with taking politics into consideration.

President Trump is a very good President - he leads from ideals and principles - America First trade policy - Peace through Strength - Tax and regulatory reform - Energy independence - Protect the unborn - protect the 2nd Amendment - protect the Constitution - Protect Individual liberty by limiting Government - and YES, Equal justice under the law.

I’m glad he’s fighting for those principles - but I’m also glad he is politically savvy, because if he doesn’t get re-elected he can’t do any of it.
