Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) released a statement on the Supreme Court nomination on Sunday.
Alexander, who is known for being a RINO, actually stood with President Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and said he will vote on Trumps SCOTUS nominee.
No one should be surprised that a Republican Senate majority would vote on a Republican Presidents Supreme Court nomination, even during a presidential election year, Senator Alexander said.
He added, The Constitution gives senators the power to do it. The voters who elected them expect it. Going back to George Washington, the Senate has confirmed many nominees to the Supreme Court during a presidential election year. It has refused to confirm several when the President and Senate majority were of different parties.
Sen. Alexander blasted the Democrats: Senator McConnell is only doing what Democrat leaders have said they would do if the shoe were on the other foot.
I have voted to confirm Justices Roberts, Alito, Sotomayor, Gorsuch and Kavanaugh based up their intelligence, character and temperament. I will apply the same standard when I consider President Trumps nomination to replace Justice Ginsburg, Alexander said.

All will fall in line on this institutional, party vote.
Or retire.
None believes they can vote no and remain in office. Not even Romney. Or Collins. Or Murkowski.
Those are the stakes they will very soon realize if they do not already.
That’s a surprise to me, hope he stays the course.
Suzy Q says she is against a vote before the election, as did Lisa Cowski, but neither said they would vote NO.
Remember, didn't Lisa vote present for Cavanaugh?
It was as good as a yea vote.
It’s over for the Dems. Go take a jump Schumer.
I have been giving some thought to this. My memory is that both Murkowski and Collins said they did not think a vote should occur. They specifically did not say that they will vote no on the nominee. Anyone know of any Republican that has announced a firm “no” vote without knowing who the nominee will be? Probably not, as it would be the height of arrogance to vote on the basis of timing. I had a friend (a democrat) suggest that Collins always gives a speech reflecting displeasure, but falling into line with a “yes” vote. He doesn’t think her reluctance is a “no” vote.
Thoughts?

We don’t need the other RINOs
Great news. The Republic is at stake even if Collins doesn’t know it.
He’s supporting McConnell here. Not Trump. Thank goodness McConnell is on the ballot.
He is going out well.
I am not sure. His constituents are Mormon, and they’re one Elder Revelation away from becoming pro-gay leftist flagburners.
Alexander (my Senator) isn’t running for re-election this time.
Surprised he’s sticking his neck out; it’s not like he’ll be voted out of office. He *should* have been voted out long ago, with all the crap he’s pulled over the years.
After what we all witnessed with Kavanaugh!!! All Repubs should be on board! No exceptions. By the end of Kavanaughs hearings, he was labeled a rapist! Utterly disgusting. #fillthatseat
DJT, empowered by the people in 2016, to perform all the duties of POTUS.
The Senate Republicans, empowered by the people in 2016, reaffirmed in 2018, to perform their duties under the Constitution.
Romney will side with the commies because they have the goods on him(His advisor also worked on the Burisma board) even with Lamar and Romney being “Good buddies” doesn’t matter..remember, Lamar voted against impeachment, Romney did..Dems own him
The US senate has 53 Republicans and 47 Democrats.
Two Republicans will simply sit aside and refuse to cast a vote (Collins and Murkowski), and Romney is a wildcard ( Thanks for nothing Utah).
Which makes the result a potential 50-50 split.
This makes VP Mike Pence the tie breaker.
Washington nominated THREE Supreme Court Justices in an election year. John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln all made election year nominations.
We don’t need Romney.
Collins is in a tough spot politically. She's in a tight race but by far the worst option for her is to vote against the nominee. If she does that then the entire republican base of Maine will abandon her and she'll go down in flames. That's why she keeps putting out messages about not voting on the nominee until after the Nov 3 election, she doesn't want to have to cast the vote on the nominee because she knows all eyes will be on her. An abstention will be seen by her base as being as bad as a no if it results in the nominee not getting in, she'll be known as the one that denied republicans the supreme court and will be tossed out on her butt. It'll be pretty tough getting re-elected when no one in your party will vote for you, a few straggling independents coming to your side won't make up for the hundreds of thousands of republicans who won't vote for because you cost them the supreme court.
If the SC vote is held before the election then Collins will be forced to vote yes on the nominee, a no or abstention will guarantee she loses her senate seat. That's one reason that McConnell MUST get the new nominee voted upon before the election.
“Elections have consequences... Get over it.” —Barack Hussein Obama
He was one of four nearly everyone was concerned about. He is now on board. Mittens has said rumors he will abstain are not true.
So, unless there are two wild cards no one is concerned with suddenly announcing a lack of support we should have an RBG replacement within a few weeks.
Collins and Murkowski abstaining look like meaningless gestures as far as this is concerned.
