Mayor John Cooper has requested from Gov. Bill Lee an additional $82.6 million in COVID-19 relief to help aid Nashvilles tourism industry, music venues, small-businesses and to help expand the citys social resources.
In a letter last week outlining the citys needs as Nashville continues to be rocked by the ongoing pandemic, Cooper reminds Lee the states economic recovery begins in Nashville right now.
The Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp. last month estimated Nashville businesses have so far lost $2.45 billion in visitor spending due to COVID-19 and are losing more than $100 million per week as the pandemic continues.
Nashvilles pace of recovery will determine the trajectory of Tennessees economic recovery, and we seek to work with you to achieve those shared goals, the mayor wrote.
But emails obtained by the local Fox 17 station reveal that the mayors office colluded with Nashville Health Department to hide actual COVID-19 numbers from the city because the numbers were so low.
The email below:
From Fox 17:
The discussion involves the low number of coronavirus cases emerging from bars and restaurants and how to handle that.and most disturbingly how to keep it from the public.
On June 30th, contact tracing was giving a small view of coronavirus clusters. Construction and nursing homes causing problems more than a thousand cases traced to each category, but bars and restaurants reported just 22 cases.
Leslie Waller from the health department asks This isnt going to be publicly released, right? Just info for Mayors Office?
Correct, not for public consumption. Writes senior advisor Benjamin Eagles
A month later the health department is asked point-blank about the rumor there are only 80 cases traced to bars and restaurants.
Meanwhile, the citys request for more relief includes $35.2 million for tourism-related businesses, which includes $11.7 to assist live venues and musicians and $23.5 million for restaurants and hotels.
Other urgent needs Cooper said, includes:
$23.5 million in relief for small and micro businesses. $10 million for arts organizations. $5.2 million for behavioral health. $5 million for workforce development. $2 million for childcare and distanced learning: $1.3 million to hire staff to address assistance for increased domestic violence cases. $300,000 for eviction mediation $300,000 for burial of indigent persons.
The left is so sick.
Let the lawsuits and criminal charges begin.
I can’t decide if we’re heading for a second Civil War or a straight-up Revolution.
I do think we will see the establishment of the Second Republic of the United States, with a new Constitution. Whether that Constitution will be better or worse is anyone’s guess. In my opinion, government needs to reined in and politicians should live in fear of the wrath of the voters. Cruel and Unusual punishment? I’m in favor of it — for politicians who violate laws or abuse the public trust.
The Tennessee Attorney General is (allegedly) a Republican. Let’s see if he indicts the corrupt Nashville mayor and Health Department officials.
If true...then I’d expect court cases to start up and suing the mayor for his ‘actions’. If you lost any money in the past six months...a lawyer will be in the middle of this.
I don’t think he’ll be around by middle of 2021. You basically can’t trust anything the guy says.
I would have to say when the first frost hits hell.
And the taxpayers will foot the Bill for his failures.
One of the biggest areas of Wuhan Virus concerns was around nursing homes, and notice the Mayor’s money request asks for nothing for helping them.
The biggest SCAM of all time..........................
We will *never* have accurate numbers.
Blue state tyrants lie.
Hospitals had financial incentives to inflate the numbers.
The WHO is a nefarious international crime syndicate. Nothing coming out of there should be believed. Assign them UN credibility and be grateful they are not here. Thank President Trump again for cutting off their allowance.
There are also yuge problems with the tests. They have to be done by properly trained personnel. Then they have to be analyzed by a lab with the correct equipment and handled by people who have been thoroughly trained. Otherwise, they will throw both false positives and negatives. Such a large percentage are asymptomatic, getting an accurate count cannot be done at this time.
I have major concerns about these on-the-fly tests.
I have to give Governor Lee some props, though.
He has given us the guidelines that were currently stuck with, but with no heavy handed tactics. At least not in my area.
Its been pretty much left to the individual business to tell you not to come in without a muzzle, I mean mask.
He’s a Democrat, had to look him up. Just like Whitmer here in Michigan, put restaurants, bars out of business.
Half the deaths in Michigan were due to nursing homes and for that, our Gov shut the entire state down.
Let me see: $300,000 to bury indigent (homeless) people ... At 3000.00 per funeral - and that is a lot of funeral! - The mayor is getting money to bury 100 homeless. And how many died?
Another glaring reason the Supreme Court should reverse and abolish their Stupid Qualified Immunity decision from years ago
The math suggests it’s 100,000 @$3K per funeral. ;)
Looks like a clear case for cover up and collusion. But, as usual with these weasels nothing will happen and they will go on their merry way.
