Residents (and visitors for more than 4 weeks) from polio-affected areas should receive an additional dose of OPV or inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) within 4 weeks to 12 months of travel.”
Why couldn’t they use the same vaccine that the gave us in 1956? It worked. It was easy to give. Why a new vaccine when the old one worked? I guess if the money spent developing this New vaccine had been spent giving the old vaccine polio would be gone.
