With Main Street still largely in disarray, despite the billions of dollars left in Fed-backed lending programs for small and medium-sized businesses and Ice Cube asking "where's our [bleep]ing bailout?", we imagine the millions of newly impoverished Americans can appreciate the fact that America's jet-setting private equity barons are still doing their thing. After all, a pandemic is trivial compared with Steve Schwarzman's insatiable lust for more - more assets, more capital, more recognition.
My Mamma always used to say, “You gotta leave the past behind before you can move on.”
Weird headline.
Uh oh. Heels up Harris is in trouble now.

Will it know which of my ancestors fought in the Anion army?
(Here’s a hint: Three)
So what is the conclusion? There will be a massive database on everyone that lists whether someone’s ancestors “owned” slaves? (you can’t own another person.)
And what will it be used for? Three guesses in today’s USA. Will they use it to decide if they should send you a bill for reparations or a check?
And those who were adopted? Does guilt pass through the adoption decree? And those whose ancestors were born in Europe? Do they get a bill based on their skin shade?
There was once something called privacy. Too much to ask nowadays that something, anything, should be kept private.
Here is a possibly interesting take on the victim/victimizer idea from Breitbart the other day”
My take on the entire thing is that we just get on with present day business.
Complete lunacy from Zerohedge.
RE: Complete lunacy from Zerohedge.
Can you please elaborate?
Although there are some parts of the south (East Tennessee, for example) where a Negro housekeeper might actually have been hired help rather than a slave.
Slaves were very expensive by the 1840s. Housekeepers and hired hands, not so much.
Some of the states in the deep south (Alabama, for example) were so paranoid about mixing slaves and hired help that they passed laws that forbade Negros who weren't slaves from even residing in the state. The law was particularly difficult to enforce in some regions such as Huntsville as it was too close to Tennessee where hired help and slaves often mixed.
Even more interesting was the fact that Tennessee, particularly the eastern part, wasn't paranoid at all because their slaves were often treated better than the hired help. A similar attitude prevailed in large parts of Virginia, North Carolina, Arkansas and the more developed parts of Missouri.
Not so in Jackson County, though. The Mormonites got their newspaper in Independence, Missouri burned down in 1836 because an editorial suggested the area would be a good place for newly freed slaves to settle. The remainder of the Mormonites were driven out of the country shortly thereafter.
Slaveholders were very, very sensitive about letting their human chattel see free Negros.
Bottom line is this new information, unless the slaves were financed on credit or used for a loan collateral, is going to be of minimal use.
Stop asking so many questions and pay your taxes you bigot!
It’s how Communists roll.
After the Revolution, offspring of the landowners and business owners, were put at the bottom of society in terms of getting an education and good jobs.
Wouldn’t be surprised if they find that most of the blacks today are descendants of slave owners.
Kamala’s family owned hundreds of slaves.
Even traded them. She comes from a prominent and wealthy plantation-owning family.
(Her dad is nominally black, but looks white. She gets her color from her Indian mother.)
Good to see she’s keeping up the family business of using blacks. So many kids don’t honor their heritage.
(Yes, sarcasm.)
Not to worry. Magically, they won't be able to find her family's history of slave ownership.
I control many slaves now.
I work for Fed.gov
Both sides of my grandparents migrated to the US in the early 1900s. Does that mean I don’t have to contribute to the so-called reparations?
Many folks with ancestors that were in the U.S. prior to the mid 1860’s might have owned slaves, including today’s Democrats. According to the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade database, it is estimated that 10.7 Africans were captured and sold into slavery. Of those, about 388,000 came to the U.S. You do the math. Since then many folks emigrated here from around the world to escape hardship and tyranny. It is my understanding that 2.4 million Africans have emigrated here in the last 15 years. This is only one continent. Think about the rest. The left appears to be moving to the area of finance now. Could it be that they only want people who have ancestors that have little connection to the founding and have arrived in this country since 1900 to have a say? Only people with a European or world view would be heard in that case. Just sayin’.
Amazon DNA tests are known to be wildly inaccurate
I don’t see where in the press release they talk about slave owners.
