If you’re hoping the COVID-19 pandemic will go on forever, this post may disappoint you. And, I get it. We have gone frothing-at-the-mouth nuts over a slightly above-normal virulence virus, with a unique and obvious age-distribution pattern that should have made containment easy and panic completely unnecessary. And, if you’re living in the United States, like I am, you probably think my declaration that this pandemic is “over” to be somewhere between wishful thinking and incredibly premature, and I hear you, too, although forgive me if I’m not sure you’re the one thinking clearly, given some of the things I’ve recently read. I promise to support my assertion with data, and the wisdom of people far more expert than me who are having a harder time being heard in the present climate of…bats#@t crazy.
Have we lost our collective minds? Yes.
You may not be one of them. In fact, I’m guessing the people who actually take the time to read my blog posts are the few remaining who haven’t been subsumed by the panic, but can we agree that most have? Jeffrey A. In my NYS county of 1.4 million people it seems like it might be over. At one point we had over 60 people a day dying. Now, we've had one person die over the past two weeks.
Folks here still wear masks in retail stores, and large gatherings are still banned.
One could speculate that our low numbers of infections and deaths are because of that. Or one can speculate that we now have herd immunity.
I don't know which is the case and neither do you.

Legally they cannot tell you. My firm has now been shut down by the department of health.

Actually, it is very unlikely to kill most of us. The national population mortality rate, if we accept every death counted as dying with rather than because of COVID19 infection right now is approximately, 0.0473%! It’s not even as high as the 2018 Seasonal Influenza was. If we filter out the deaths of those who died from causes such as heart disease, seasonal influenza, suicide, automobile accidents, murders, and other diseases which were counted among the COVID19 deaths merely because they were coincidentally tested positive for the presence of the virus, then the mortality rate is far lower. Just because the virus was present does not mean Covid contributed to death, but they are counting these deaths as COVID19 deaths to artificially inflate the numbers.
Where? The stats only show we are testing more and finding more people who have antibodies or are asymptomatic. There was a slight bump up coincidental timed matching the protests/riots with a lagging increase for incubation in those areas where those crowds gathered. It’s now fading.
Don’t make the mistake of confusing the COVID19 virus disease for the COVID19 propaganda panic disease. They are two different monsters.
Quit shouting, Chicken Little. Calm down. Just because Karen and Chad politician make that assertion does not make it scientifically factual. In fact there is very little science backing up their orders.
Now where, what state and city has this draconian power? They don’t where I live. I doubt it’s actually the "law", but rather an unconstitutional edict by a dictatorial Governor usurping power they really don’t have.
