They did not release them to save them from Covid. They released them to save money. If masks worked they would have given them all a mask and kept them in jail.
The cost of housing a prisoner is paid for by preventing them from damaging society. But, that money saved is not obvious, like having a cop visible on the beat to prevent crime does not pay and obvious dividend. It’s there, but it’s not the same as the cash the government spends to house a criminal.
At this we need to start forming second amendment militias that will restore order.
