Cultural suicide used to be a popular diagnosis of why things suddenly just quit.
Historians such as Oswald Spengler and Arnold Toynbee cited social cannibalism to explain why once-successful states, institutions and cultures simply died off.
Their common explanation was that the arrogance of success ensures lethal consequences. Once elites became pampered and arrogant, they feel exempt from their ancestors

The jobs are at the small businesses like the barber shops and hair dressers and gyms and bars and restaurants, who's owners are being arrested and fined huge amounts just this week, for daring to open up again, contrary to diktats issued by far left Dem governors.
Most jobs in America have always been provided by small businesses.
Your Dem mayors and governors are deliberately putting people out of work. Let them face the consequences.
They can always let people go back to work of course.
It's probably what some Roman Senators thought when they saw the self destruction of the Roman empire.
For almost 250 years we have managed to cobble together enough people that "believed in God" to put their self interests behind the best interests of the Country.
When the essential belief in God is not present in enough of the population, our Constitution is just meaningless words on paper.
Heart breaking doesn't even get close to my feelings.
SAD.
TCM was my favorite, also, until Comcast said we had to subscribe to it to view the movies. No way...
TCM is great; and also Ive been enjoying the DIY channel. Last nights good story: two brothers bought a tiny fishing shack on a large piece of wooded waterfront landcheap!and enlarged it to a two-story, two-bedroom family getaway place. Amazing to see the stages of work on the house.
“Best Years of Our Lives” is from the same era.
Some Universities have off campus housing with dry cleaning, coffee shops, dog parks, hiking trails, happy hours, private transportation, gyms, fire pits, many swimming pools, even car wash stations. These arent students, most cant even buy a stamp or address an envelope. college is post high school day care.
Wow. Can you please give an example?
“TCM is my go to on tv.”
Me too....but I wish they would do away with the long introductions by some of the woke/PC hosts and guests.
These days they even go out of their way to air movies with a “message”.
Their definition of “Classic Movies” has me shaking my head, at times.
I PRAY TO GOD...he is correct!!!!
And the older the better....In my life time I remember when movie stars and actors were patriots!!!!
Major Universities have become nothing but indoctrination facilities......and I believe the people are awakening to this fact....I pray the pendulum will swing in the not so distant future!!!
It’s not magical thinking.
Their business models cannot survive without the people they’ve just turned off.
ROTFLMO!!!!
‘Leave Her To Heaven’ is an old favorite of mine.
1945, Gene Tierney. Gorgeous & deadly! (I like femme fatale stories.)

RE: Pro sports, colleges, and Hollywood are not going anywhere, their wokeness notwithstanding.
Does this mean you’re still going to patronize them despite their wokeness?
The Horse Soldiers and Sergeant Rutledge were on last night...Watched ‘em both back to back...
No, not me, I have never patronized these symbols of decadence. I am speaking of the masses.
I would like to see on last movie from Hollyweird, a movie in which all the leftist actors, all the woke university people, and all the superwoke athletes discover Japanese culture ana commit mass hari kari on December 7, 2020.
Good advice. But somehow I think our screw-ed up, self-appointed elites will continue sending their kids to the Ivies and Stanford expecting to order fries from our kids.
