CDC Director Says There are More Suicides and Overdoses than COVID Deaths

Center for Disease Control Director Robert Redfield testified in a Buck Institute webinar that suicides and drug overdoses have surpassed the death rate for COVID-19. Redfield argued that lockdowns and lack of public schooling constituted a disproportionally negative impact on young peoples’ mental health.

“We’re seeing, sadly, far greater suicides now than we are deaths from COVID. We’re seeing far greater deaths from drug overdose that are above excess that we had as background than we are seeing the deaths from COVID,” he said.

Roughly 146,000 people have died from COVID or COVID-related causes in the U.S., according to CDC data.

The most recent publicized federal data records 48,000 deaths from suicide and at least 1.4 million attempts in 2018. In 2019, almost 71,000 people died from drug overdoses.

Where Redfield obtained his data is unknown, although a doctor at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, CA claimed the facility has “seen a year’s worth of suicide attempts in the last four weeks.” He did not say how many deaths occurred, or whether the statement was exaggerated for emphasis.

"What I have seen recently, I have never seen before," Hansen said. "I have never seen so much intentional injury,” said a nurse from the same hospital.

And while health authorities will not have verified data regarding suicides and drug overdoses in 2020 for two more years, local reporting indicates that suicide fatalities have increased year-on-year...

But were they wearing masks when they committed suicide...now that the important thing.

Not just suicides, but OD’s.
How many relapses, and how many new addicts?

“But were they wearing masks when they committed suicide...now that the important thing.”

It’s important to be logical when you’re making suicide plans, so a mask nowadays is important.

My friend’s loser son decided he was going to commit suicide in Alaska, and he was going to jump from a hotel room. So he rented a room on the third floor. Not the 15th. He backed out and when someone asked him why he didn’t get a room on a higher floor he said he didn’t want to pay extra. If you’re dead, does it matter what your Visa bill says in two weeks?

The Democrat National Party, NBC, CNN, and MSNBC does not want the American people to know this. Right now, the American people are still buying their BS.

you aren’t supposed to notice the mental health effects of 4 months of confined shutdown, isolation, and heavy media programming.

Whoever would’ve thought you’d gulag at home and subject yourself to state propaganda around the clock in the name of infotainment “for your own good”.

They are killing innovation, creativity, independent businesses, and social dating. “for your own good” while the militant Left can have their “love ins” and smash the state and smash the church.

The 9/11 hijackers all sat in first class.

The diners in first class all get real knives and forks.

And the commoners all get the heavy pat down at TSA

That’s pretty pathetic, and sad that he didn’t think he was worth spending the extra money on himself before he crashed to the earth. I’m glad he backed out in the end, and I hope he’s gotten help since that time. During my career, there were about 3 people I worked with that committed suicide, all with weapons. One blew his brains out in the driveway in front of his wife and kids while she was in the car leaving. Suicide is such a cowardly act, and leaves such a scar on the people left behind.

Some time ago, maybe April, I was catching up with a friend whose brother is a priest. I asked about his biggest worries and problems. For him it was the alcoholics who were isolated and had lost some accountability measures . Anyone with “boots on the ground” saw this coming.

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - Sweden’s top epidemiologist said on Tuesday a rapid decline in new critical COVID-19 cases alongside slowing death rates indicated that Sweden’s strategy for slowing the epidemic, which has been widely questioned abroad, was working.

Sweden has foregone a hard lockdown throughout the outbreak, a strategy that set it apart from most of Europe.

Chief epidemiologist Anders Tegnell of the public health agency said a rapid slowdown in the spread of the virus indicated very strongly that Sweden had reached relatively widespread immunity.

Some may say suicide is the ultimate courageous act. You’re sending yourself off into the great unknown willingly, with no idea what, if anything, may lie ahead.

I’ve never considered it either cowardly or courageous, just narcissistic and ignorant of the feelings of those around you. I understand the desperation that leads to suicide though.

My dad, my son, and my best friend from high school have all died from suicide. I don’t blame them or look down on them. They had their reasons. One was a woman and alcohol abuse, one was a woman and drug addiction, and the other was severe diabetes, long-term physical pain, and financial destitution. I don’t agree with any of those reasons as being enough to end one’s life over, but I understand the feelings and the thinking that led them to it.

If I can see them again in the afterlife, I will open my arms, tell them it’s good to see them, and ask “where’s the beer?”

And here is your entire department(CDC) engaging in a very deadly and costly contrivance:

Vital Statistics Reference Guidance 03, April 2020(CDC)

See Attachment

Cause-of-Death Reporting
When reporting cause of death on a death certificate, use any
information available, such as medical history, medical records,
laboratory tests, an autopsy report, or other sources of relevant
information. Similar to many other diagnoses, a cause-of-death
statement is an informed medical opinion that should be based
on sound medical judgment drawn from clinical training and
experience, as well as knowledge of current disease states and
local trends (6).

Part I
This section on the death certificate is for reporting the sequence
of conditions that led directly to death. The immediate cause of
death, which is the disease or condition that directly preceded
death and is not necessarily the underlying cause of death
(UCOD), should be reported on line a. The conditions that led
to the immediate cause of death should be reported in a logical
sequence in terms of time and etiology below it.

The UCOD, which is “(a) the disease or injury which initiated
the train of morbid events leading directly to death or (b) the
circumstances of the accident or violence which produced the
fatal injury” (7), should be reported on the lowest line used in
Part I.

Thanks for sharing, and I’m sorry that you lost family and friends to suicide. My youngest son had surgery last year for cancerous polyps. They took out about 72 lymph nodes, and he went through 6 months of chemo. He may never be able to go back to work because of severe neuropathy pain caused by the chemo. I pray each day that I don’t outlive either of my sons.
