Why didn’t masks work for a mob of fat hens who crowded together to link arms with each other and gossip?

If masks work, why did the number of infected increase before so many people started wearing masks?

I should have said MOST N95 respirators have a check valve. There are some cheaper ones and dust mask type that do not, but they make it harder to breath and they make it so you can’t blow out a lighter, since you don’t have that flow of air a check valve allows for.

I take a large combination of Vitamins C, D and A every day. Those are the Vitamins recommended to boost the immune system. I also take a B12 and Multivitamin daily. So far, so good.

Some N95s have the valve but my impression is that most do not.

Yes, the problem is that we dont have a scientific way to pre determine if your body can handle it or if you are going to crash and burn.

There is an interesting case study that could be done for this Italian area

https://apnews.com/e91b19c2d31d5021a7e8dcd55b50e08b

And they are also looking at people with Thalassemia in Italy who didnt have the outcome that you would have predicted.

Meanwhile, Yankees and Phillies game just got canceled after the Marlins outbreak.

If you believe in Trump’s drug there are Drs who are advocating taking Quercetin with Zinc in hopes of it doing similar. Acting as an ionophere for the zinc.

From what I have read, the best evidence shows that wearing a mask increases the viral load.

There is no reason a mask would increase the viral load.

Please educate yourselves about these masks. The valve on an N95 mask allows easier exhaling. It does not filter anything.

Why during this most serious biohazard endemic infection EVER, requiring masks and gloves EVERYWHERE, with the most contagious virus (allegedly) EVER, is there not one (1) biohazard bin or box to collect these allegedly contagious, biohazard masks???????

You mean the masks I see laying around in parking lots and on the side of the road and on my lawn...those masks?

He is probably talking about the rebreathing issue once you have been infected.

The point is that not all N95 masks have the valve. That’s why it’s described as “optional” in your link. My impression is that most N95s do not have the valve.

Either way it’s a moot point since the vast majority of people are not wearing N95 masks. They’re wearing surgeon masks or homemade bandana type things.

We tested N95 medical quality masks with no check valve and could blow out a lighter through the front.

Yes, I’m sure that’s what he’s talking about. It’s a silly argument.

I actually am anti-mask but I’ve gotten to the point where I’m nearly as frustrated with the lame arguments of the anti-mask side as with the pro-mask side. This whole mask thing is just absurd.

...its better then nothing.....
____________________________

From previous posts, I believe you’re an RN or other medical worker?

Isn’t it better to get light loads over time to prime the immune system and build up one’s natural resistance/antibodies?

Recent medical information states so-called *asymptomatic* transmission is rare-to-non-existant. Some researchers think up to 80% of all people are immune. This has led some researchers to posit a lower than usual level of confirmed, active cases to equal herd immunity.

They’ve cut the infective state quarantine time to 10 days.

Cases are increasing the most in mask-compliant areas.

People are testing positive for dead fragments and testing for antibodies from previous other coronovirus (cold) infections.

There is too much documented politics and outright money-grubbing on the part of hospital reporters to put any faith in any numbers.

No civilian is getting fitted for a mask and everyone is wearing them over and over. Even washing, sunlight or ozone will cause deterioration in filtering ability over time.

I just have no way to place faith in the reassurances and I am not certain how necessary they are, unless one is immuno-compromised. I detest the way this mask situation has divided people, and has been weaponized economically, socially and politically.

I have *social distanced* for years, so I am neither a risk nor putting myself at risk. I had something with mild symptoms back in the Spring, as did my husband.

AFAIK, there is no uniform agreement on any aspect of the mitigations being used. It seems that many *authorities* are just giving up and saying “WTH, it won’t hurt (much) in the long run and the arguments are tiresome.”

Sure, ill people should stay home. Of course. People with low immune status should also stay home, but they are likely going to catch it (or something) eventually.

The control freaks are just wearing us all down.

Not ranting at you, personally, BTW. Just frustrated as can be at the entire situation. No one is going to change their mind. Few will change their behavior. Most are just grudgingly giving in in order to grocery shop.

My bet: retrospective studies will eventually show that early mitigation was justified and that the extent of the mitigations has been excessive.

Meanwhile, we continue to beat ourselves up economically, socially, politically and medically.

What percentage of people are wearing N95 masks?
_________________________________________
I observe maybe 10%-15% in the stores and on the streets. And they are the ones without check valves.

Most wear the ear loop white and blue-sided ones.

In my area, maybe 25% are still resisting masks and that is down from 85% or so a month ago.

Almost everyone here has the light blue surgical masks, or some kind of nonsense bandana.
