Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison (D) says that "unless there is clear evidence that a rapist is still at the same location as the victim, police should not be dispatched to the crime scene, but should refer the victim to a social worker. Look, the victim has already suffered enough trauma. At this point she needs medical attention and psychological counseling not police interrogation."
Ellison downplayed the idea that a police presence at the crime scene would help preserve evidence and improve the chance that the perpetrator would ultimately be apprehended, contending that "getting an early start on the healing process is probably more important than arresting a suspect. After all, the line between consensual sex and rape is often blurry. The suspected rapist might have had very good reasons for his actions. The issue of whether the encounter was or wasn't rape could be controversial. Either way, though, the victim's need for social services is clear and indisputable. Getting a quick start on this aspect of the encounter seems a higher priority to me."
The Attorney General went on to argue that "rape isn't the only instance in which it might be better if police don't get involved. As we saw in the George Floyd case, if social workers had been called instead of police he would still be alive today. So, I think what we need to do is make people aware that they have an alternative to calling 911. If we could establish a similar three digit phone number for people to call in order to get a quick response from a social worker, fewer people would be killed by cops and more people would get the counseling they urgently need."

If you eliminate the police then you’re effectively saying the cops should not respond to rape.
Is it really satire? Cops (in Denver) ordered to stand by and watch as lefty goons attack and break up a support-the-police rally.
Let’s pause for a moment to appreciate the irony.......
To resume....cops in many cities doing nothing lest they be arrested and charged for hurting a suspects feelings....
But there is still time and resources to inspect and shutdown bars for not serving a “bona-fide-meal” that meets the approval of a dictator in a governor’s mansion and harassing/ticketing people for not wearing a mask in compliance with said dictator.
I appreciate the situation cops are in vis-a-vis real crime, but when they enforce this nanny state tyranny, they’re part of the problem.

The WH spokeswoman had some good points the other day. Schools are closed until whenever; meanwhile millions of kids are denied good nutrition and a right to their education; a 6 year old kid shot someone in Chicago iirc - 20% of physical child abuse is identified in the schools but with the schools closed who is watching for it? Meanwhile, reported incidents of harmed children at the emergency clinics are up some 60%.
The Dems are way too busy playing politics for gain to worry about actual people. They are a sick bunch of creatures. Drain the Swamp!
BTW I loved seeing the mayors of Portland and Minneapolis run off the stage by the mobs. Those who don’t know their history are doomed to repeat it. At least the MN mayor was right to say he opposed defunding the police. But the point is, when you let these mobs run wild, they will eventually turn on you. And if not this mob, then another mob... because you set the precedent. Rule of law for all, or for none. If mob rule is the standard then prepare for more mobs. Robespierre learned the hard way... after chopping of 1000s of heads himself, he eventually found himself in the guillotine.
