Democrat Senator and former VP running mate of Hillary Clinton, Tim Kaine (VA) on Tuesday said the United States created slavery.

To think this degenerate liar almost became Vice President of the United States.

“The United States didn’t inherit slavery from anybody. We created it,” said Tim Kaine as he droned on about racism in America.

Jefferson, the evil slave owner white supremacist, actually denouncing the English King for bringing slavery to our world in his original version of our Declaration of Independence. I'd wager 99% of the citizens of our country do not know that fact.

I believe that no single man in history better deserves credit for ending slavery than Thomas Jefferson. The five words he put into the Declaration of Independence had a massive impact on the subsequent abolition movements. They singlehandedly caused slavery to be abolished in Massachusetts, and they made people aware of the dichotomy between slavery and freedom.

I think without Thomas Jefferson, the anti-slavery movement would have taken many decades longer.

His words have such an effect that for many people they are the only part of the Declaration of Independence which they can quote, or view with any significance.

We invented slavery?...so in the history of the world slavery was only for 89 years?.. from 1776 to 1865?

It odd we even call it “slavery” after the slavs...

And very strange the bible talks about it considering the US was not around in biblical times

The Muslim conquest had as its central objective the slave market that would finance their mission. Is Kaine that ignorant?

It’s an easy call since the reason the Republican Party was founded was opposition to slavery [it was founded in 1854] was to oppose the Kansas-Nebraska Act and eventually to abolish slavery altogether.

In the last several years I have learned enough of the subject to wonder if their motives were altruism as we have been led to believe, or something more sinister.

I keep stumbling onto disquieting bits of information about how things happened, and one of the things i've learned is you cannot always trust what people say are their reasons to be the real truth.

That’s about what I recall from my visit of Charleston, SC “Slave Trading Mart” Museum. It surprised me.

But. . .but. . .but. . .when I took a class in the State Department, had a Black female in the class. She was new hire in State and always wore that colorful tent African American Females were wearing all the time. . .and the headdress, too.

I went to Africa many times, and especially South Africa (DOD stuff). I knew from my travels that the average Black female in South Africa did not wear that garb, the locals considered that akin to some just-off-the-farm girl in bib-overalls and a straw hat. She was going to South Africa and had no clue how much of an idiot the locals would consider her to be.

I tried to warn her but she literally sneered at me (I was DOD after all), but she insisted this was traditional garb suitable for wearing in the big city offices in places like Cape Town, Pretoria, Johannesburg, etc.

Slavery existed a total of 78 years in the United States of America established with the signing of the Constitution.

Thomas Jefferson included strong anti-slavery trade language in the original draft of the Declaration of Independence, but other delegates removed it.

Sorry, the United States of Amercia became a nation with the signing of the Constitution in 1787.

Slavery existed in the US for sum total of 78 years.

What other country worked at an finally ended slavery over such a short timespan?

They need to start looking at Spain, Portugal, and other European countries, rather than the US.

In 1794 the US banned American ships from participating in the slave trade and the exporting of slaves from the US by foreign ships.

In 1800 the US banned its citizens from investment and employment in the slave trade.

In 1806 In a message to Congress, Thomas Jefferson calls for criminalizing the international slave trade, asking Congress to “withdraw the citizens of the United States from all further participation in those violations of human rights … which the morality, the reputation, and the best of our country have long been eager to proscribe.”

In 1808 in Michigan Judge Augustus Woodward denies the return of two slaves owned by a man in Windsor, Upper Canada. Woodward declares that any man “coming into this Territory is by law of the land a freeman.”

The slave trade was abolished by Great Britain in 1807 and by the US in 1808.

We fought a massive Civil War in the 1860’s to end slavery.

In 1866 Slavery abolished. US government treaties with the “Five Civilized Tribes” in the Indian Territory (the Cherokee Nation, Choctaw Nation, Chickasaw Nation, Muscogee Nation, and Seminole Nation), which allied with the Confederacy, required all five tribes to abolish slavery for renewed US recognition of their governments.

American Indians had not stopped the ownership of slaves Black or Indian.

So legal slave trading existed for 19 years in the US before it was outlawed.

Slavery continued until 1929 in Persia (Iran and other Muslim countries).

In fact forms of slavery are still practiced in the Middle East.

Hmm, where’d the slave traders get the slaves? It’s not like they walked themselves up to the beach.

The United States didn’t inherit slavery from anybody. We created it,

No hole, You didn't.

But you did create:

The murdering Ku Klux Klan
The Jim Crow Laws
Racial discrimination
Segregation
Busing
Fatherless black households
Welfare dependence
Urban renewal (bulldozed black communities)
Affirmative action
Racist cops

Etc etc etc...

The Republicans were in opposition.
