It is increasingly sad that the state of affairs in the country today. I am a creative artist-a composer of serious music. I have to keep so totally silent as to how I feel about the totalitarian nonsense that is championed by my friends on Facebook and Instagram. I can say nothing about having a problem with the Stalinist thuggery promoted by people who should know better. Let alone my support for DJT. So in order to get my music listened to and not get banned, I keep silent. No one of those folks will ever come here so I feel Free among my fellow conservatives. As I said, I am very sad That we have come to this. Banning classic movies, like Gome With the Wind, was the straw that broke the camels back. The b*****d cop who murdered George Floyd has just made dialog more impossible, because the Soros lovers have an excuse. A shooting Civil war Is probably coming. This Minneapolis mayor is talking and exhibits just another reason why I believe we may never reconcile without violence on both sides. This is so sad. Shostakovich had to keep his subtractive under the radar in re Stalin. Finally publishing his Learners Manual. After it was ok to criticize Stalin
Hmmmmm
I understand. As you know the Leningrad Symphony “focus” changed after Stalin died.
The ancient Bamiyan Buddha before and after the Taliban
The "tolerant" left strikes again; Buddha Lives Matter
Shostakovich was a genius
Remember Taliban Allah maiming. Some nitwit was collecting severed hands
At this point I only post pictures of my cat on Facebook and ignore everything else.
Thanks for mentioning Shostakovich. Easily my favorite 20th century composer.
He has a number of fine works, but Symphonys 4& 10 lose me. I really like the piano concertoS anD Syms 1 and 9
I’m listening to the Well Tempered Clavier - Book 1 right now.
My poodle dog Rufus gets a lot of space there. 60 pounds of fun
Papa Bach . The root of all
As opposed to un-serious music.

I hope this comes thru....
Always a pleasure hearing from fellow classical music buffs.
Basically, my interests are Austro-German mainstream, starting with Bach and ending with Mahler. Lately, I’ve been listening to Brahms, almost to the exclusion of everything else.
Among the Russians, I like Shostakovich and Rimsky-Korsakov. My favorite Shostakovich symphonies are 5 and 9, and I’m also quite fond of the piano and cello concertos.
The Leningrad Symphony kind of loses me, but I’ve read a couple books about how it was composed and first performed during the great siege. A lot of the original musicians didn’t survive the cold and starvation. The Soviet leadership flew Shostakovich out of the besieged city, so he was safe — or about as safe as one could be during that awful time.
