At 3 p.m., Public Safety Commissioner John Harrington told reporters the State Patrol knew a group planned to tear down the Columbus statue.
At 5 p.m., it happened. State Patrol gave no resistance despite advance warning.
By 7 p.m., the statue is gone.

Yes...I know the feeling having tried to have a conversation with young family members last week...right now I’m writing a lot of my thoughts on this...so...when I’m dead they can read it and ponder how their life may have been different. Making other plans also re: finances...they won’t be happy.
Ironically there are a lot of Millennials and Gen Xers who are extremely mad about this, and they complain a lot that when they talk about this to older people the only reaction they get is shrugs and “Well I’ll be dead soon, so what difference does this make?” I hear people complain about it all the time.
I think the problem is people from different age groups are in different corners of the internet unaware of each other.
