I need help from the Freeper family for cross country travel advice during the Covid re-opening, to drive from California to the southeast and scout out locations for a new place to live.
I am asking Freepers for information regarding travel restrictions and accomodations in various states, at and to my destinations.

Questions
1. Are hotels open for business in Alabama, Florida, South Carolina and Tennesee?
2. Are masks and face coverings mandatory in Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, and Tennessee?
3. Are apartment managers allowing visitors to physically see units in their apartment complexes, or is everything still being done remotely in Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, and Tennessee?
4. Can I drive through Arizona, Utah, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana on my way to and from those 4 states or do I have to 14-day quarantine every time I drive into a new state?
5. Are rest stops opened in the above states of Arizona to Arkansas, or do I have to bring a jar to pee in on the way? Are Truck Stops opened?
Here are all the places I would like to visit. I would be leaving July 1, 2020 at the latest and will probably take 6-8 weeks to see all these locations.

Florida -- Jacksonville Beach, St. Augustine, Pensacola

Tennessee -- Farragut, Powell, Maryville (Knoxville suburbs), Signal Mountain, Lookout Mountain (Chattanooga suburbs), Brentwood, Franklin (suburbs of Nashville)
I apologize for the Vanity, but I am kind of at my wits end seeking accurate and timely informaion about travel restrictions to and through the various states and hoping Freepers can help me out. Most state web sites are out of date. Leave California or Bust.
check the demographics of where you’re going.
If you go I-10, Benson is about 45 minutes east of Tucson. If you need to stop, it is a safe, little, conservative community. There is a big safe hotel off the interstate. In town are decent places to eat and a variety of shops. When it is closer to time and your plans are more specific, post again and we will be happy to share more information.
I have added it to my “place to see”. Thanks for the recommendation.
Avoid Memphis. Noted. I will give it wide berth. I don’t want to come within 100 miles of a Democrat stronghold.
Thanks.
LOL. Thanks for the scoop.
Glad to hear Californians were never on the Florida naughty list for Covid. We tend to rate highly on the “visitors to turn back” list, and for good reason. About 1/3rd of Californians are hardcore Commie liberal these days. Could be more. Another 1/3rd or so are left of center “what’s wrong with socialism” types. Not hardcore, but accepting of all the California stupidity and oppression.
Less than 15% are conservatives, and that number is dwindling as we load up our Coastoga wagons and return to America where we can live free. We ARE your tired, huddled masses, yearning to breathe free. The wretched refuse of communist California. And we vote Conservative.
California has too many beautiful places to mention and the best climate in America. I will miss some of the places, but that’s all I will miss. But yes, Lake Tahoe and Yosemite are foremost among its gems.
Demograpics will be a key factor in my decision
Crime
Demographics
Taxes
Cost of living
Amenities
Recreation
Views and scenic beauty
Retired, I don’t have to worry about jobs or schools. Demographics are a solid consideration. Bigly.
Too bad about Orange Beach. It sounds like Fairhope is more affordable anyway.
Thanks for the scoop. Inside information like this is always welcome.
Benson sounds like a perfect place to stay. Thanks for the tip. I was having trouble finding a good place to stay over there. You solved my problem.
Thanks.
Fairhope looks nice. I look forward to seeing it in person and spending some time there. Thank you very much for the recommendation. I can always visit Orange Beach out of season.
TN is wide open
I need to watch this thread for upcoming travel.
I live in Franklin TN.
Tell them to wave at me.
I’d stay out of Nashville unless you really want to do the tourist thing. Come down here to Franklin instead.
Wonderful. That is music to my ears. I can't wait to see these places.
15 years ago my sister moved to Max Meadow VA. 7 acres and a four bedroom for 135,000 She sold it 5 years ago for 279 and moved to Pulaski into mobile home.
You might check out the area if you get near Bristol TN Max Meadow is very rural but near the interstate 81 and the intersection of I-77. The area is half way between Bristol and Roanoke VA about 5 hours from Dulles Airport and the same for Raleigh-Durham which has great hospitals. There is a hospital in Roanoke and one in Bristol. Also an airport in Charlotte, NC.
The closest city to Max Meadow is just south, Wytheville VA also a nice place where the interstates Intersect. People are good throughout the area.
There’s a couple of realtors in the area.
The original poster is in California. I’m in Tennessee in Athens, site of The Battle of Athens. I advised him to avoid Memphis but he needs to be cautious of Nashville right now too. Chattanooga has a lot of tourist attractions. He might be OK in Nashville during the day but after being hit by the tornado and then some protesters he needs to be careful in Nashville too. Stick to East Tennessee. We’re friendly here and not as many libs.
Virginia is a deal breaker now that it is a liberal state. People tell me that it is going back to be a red state this election, but I can’t risk it. The die is cast for Virginia. I could not be happy living under the socialist laws Virginia is going to be buried in shortly.
The sad thing is, Virginia was my retirement target 20 years ago and since. I could not foresee that it would be conquered so quickly and thoroughly by the commie libs. While the Commonwealth could use my vote, I am afraid my vote just wouldn’t count there anymore.
So while I appreciate your help, Virginia is now on my black-list along with the rest of the commie liberal states I refuse to be oppressed by. After 60 years living in California, I am yearning to breathe free.
I do appreciate your help though. You meant well.
My sister lives in the south west part as i mentioned. The rural areas are conservative Those are the people who march on the capital.
Governors come and go.
Best wishes.
