On the heels of taking austerity measures to combat the financial impact of the coronavirus, Syracuse University will increase both the amount it charges students in tuition and the amount of financial aid it provides students next year.
In an announcement by the school, the university indicated that it will increase its tuition fees by 3.9%, up to $54,270 for students admitted in fall 2018 and afterward.

Crap i paid less than that probably for my bachelors and masters at a good private school.
So over-inflated.
My wife who went to Furman got the news that baseball and maybe lacrosse there got the axe.
The president and some of the coaches took pay cuts.
I don’t care about sports but I don’t wish this on people.
Getting paid all that money and what are their results? A lot of brain washed people incapable of the critical thinking universities claim they teach.
Total of six degrees and certificates here. Total cost: About 25K. Of course, I did it by going to public colleges and getting free or discounted tuition by working at these colleges.
This is just one year.
My wife has a cousin who was just graduated from there - had a rugby scholarship, of all things. Maybe he got out just in time.
I think scholarships are being honored for now.
The purpose of college is not educate, but to keep you in debt from your 18th birthday until your eventual death.
Inflation makes a difference over time.
I paid less than half the one-year sticker price out of pocket for my whole undergrad degree—at an Ivy—and I graduated less than 30 years ago.
I did figure out how to get by really cheaply.

Interesting move. I wouldn’t call Syracuse University a well known or leading university. I expect they’ll start catastrophically losing students in a few years.
Instead of eliminating failing programs and worthless degree programs they raise tuition. Obviously higher education needs no help from government.
Trying fixing up couple jeeps will do the same thing.
My Bachelor of Science degree from Muhlenberg College cost me near $30 thousand.
Was it worth it? For me, yes!
Would I pay $200 thousand for the same four year degree now? No way in hell!
Last I knew SU’s endowment was over a billion bucks...
More wealth transfer here - I know how this works well.
One segment of students pay more, to allow the college to have another segment that pays less.
This happens with or without covid.
