In an announcement by the school, the university indicated that it will increase its tuition fees by 3.9%, up to $54,270 for students admitted in fall 2018 and afterward.

It will be interesting to see how tuition and fee increases work out for colleges and universities.

So over-inflated.

My wife who went to Furman got the news that baseball and maybe lacrosse there got the axe.

The president and some of the coaches took pay cuts.

I don’t care about sports but I don’t wish this on people.

Getting paid all that money and what are their results? A lot of brain washed people incapable of the critical thinking universities claim they teach.

Total of six degrees and certificates here. Total cost: About 25K. Of course, I did it by going to public colleges and getting free or discounted tuition by working at these colleges.

My wife has a cousin who was just graduated from there - had a rugby scholarship, of all things. Maybe he got out just in time.

The purpose of college is not educate, but to keep you in debt from your 18th birthday until your eventual death.

Inflation makes a difference over time.

I paid less than half the one-year sticker price out of pocket for my whole undergrad degree—at an Ivy—and I graduated less than 30 years ago.

I did figure out how to get by really cheaply.

Will the students actually be allowed in the same room as the professor or will this be all on-line education? Seems to me that if it’s the latter, the tuition should be less.

Interesting move. I wouldn’t call Syracuse University a well known or leading university. I expect they’ll start catastrophically losing students in a few years.

Instead of eliminating failing programs and worthless degree programs they raise tuition. Obviously higher education needs no help from government.

My Bachelor of Science degree from Muhlenberg College cost me near $30 thousand.

Was it worth it? For me, yes!

Would I pay $200 thousand for the same four year degree now? No way in hell!

will increase both the amount it charges students in tuition and the amount of financial aid...

More wealth transfer here - I know how this works well.

One segment of students pay more, to allow the college to have another segment that pays less.

This happens with or without covid.
