There It Is: CDC Equates Coronavirus Hospitalizations to Seasonal Flu and Finally Admits It’s MUCH LESS Dangerous for Children

In late February, nearly a month after Presient Trump banned travel from China to the United States in January, the CDC terrorized Americans by claiming the Wuhan coronavirus had a mortality rate of 2.3% at its epicenter.
The CDC compared the coronavirus mortality rate of 2.3% to the seasonal flu mortality rate of 0.1%.

Two weeks later WHO leader, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, sparked a global panic when he claimed the COVID-19 had a 3.4% mortality rate and then compared that number to the annual estimated seasonal flu mortality rate of 0.1%.
These irresponsible and completely inaccurate statements led to the greatest economic crash since the Great Depression.
30 million Americans are currently unemployed due to the crisis and the number is growing each week.
On Friday the CDC equated the Wuhan coronavirus to the seasonal flu.
The COVID-19 hospitalization rates are “similar to” those in the 65 and older category during recent high severity influenza seasons.
And the COVID-19 hospitalizations for children 17 and under is MUCH LOWER than the seasonal flu hospitalization rates during recent influenza seasons.
The COVID-19 is LESS DANGEROUS to children than a typical influenza!

And just think We destroyed out economy for this!

You forgot to mention to get the press to stop calling the HCQ regimen (essentially) a hoax and anecdotal just because Trump was suggesting it. We need an honest, inquisitive press, not just Democrat Pravda.

Currently, the mortality rate is around 5.9%, higher than originally predicted.

Heres a question. How many children in the US have died from the Corona virus?
The answer is amazing.

I’m guessing between 0.2 and 0.3 percent death rate when it’s all over, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it turned out to be 0.1 like a bad flu season.
Unfortunately, the R0 for this bug is as high as 5 or 6, while flu is between 1 and 2, so this much higher contagion is why hospitals in hot spots were at risk of being overwhelmed while still dealing with flu patients. Something is hinky with this article.
(FD: I prefer we all start opening up in most of the country, if not all of it, right now, including most of Maryland and New York State.)

No, millions would not have died, that is nonsense. Most people who get survive it.
To: kaehurowing
Really? How come we aren’t seeing 200,000 dead already?

I think one thing maybe we can ALL agree on, and that is a FACT that the CDC failed America. Bump and so has the FDA.

sad, but I hear she may make more on unemployment. Which is probably a bad thing in the long run because why go back to work?

many citizens failed - happily trading liberties and freedoms for security
I try to be respectful. But I find myself shocked at some of my friends that are not in any risk groups and stay perfectly isolated, Washingtons all their groceries etc. My politics is based 100% on freedom. So I recognize the power grab of our rights.

My friend who had the coronavirus in January (obviously didnt know it at the time but was very very sick with all the symptoms and at one point did need the ER) has two small kids. They got something akin to the Cole with fever that all kids always get. It was probably covid but it was very mild in them. Husband never got sick at all, and of course they didnt isolate from each other - no one knew it would become a pandemic.

Isnt the cdc a taxpayer funded entity??Not the China CDC, which is what Hoft is quoting on his mortality rate numbers.

You really need to understand populations better — You are incorrect and there is not a reputable should alive who puts the mortality at 7.3% — you are either declaring yourself to be chicken little, a screwball, or a fear monger...which one is it?

“You cant argue with facts.”
Depends on who provides the facts, and how relevant the facts are. Yahoo news? REALLY? I’d rate them about as good as Communist China for info on the WuWHO Flu.
Belgium? From your linked article:
“Belgium goes further and includes suspected coronavirus deaths in its figures, while many countries will only count a fatality if there has been a positive test.”

Keep going....your analysis is either dishonest or ignorant. I am favoring both in your case. You are entitled to the facts, but not to your facts. And you are manipulating the data or being manipulated to make patently untrue statement.
As I said, not one reputable person, scientist, physician or news source reports anything higher than 2.3% which has been discredited already — you are playing with the data and it is transparent.

Another quote from the article:
“Care home deaths account for almost half of the deaths announced each day in Belgium and about 95 percent of cases were not formally diagnosed with coronavirus.”
