One of the more acutely-asked questions since the covid-19 pandemic broke out has been: Is the virus man-made?
Debate on the matter has been wild and furious. After much investigation, Chris is now chiming in on the heels of an explosive Newsweek report.
Newsweek reveals that as recently as last year, the US funded scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in 'gain of function' research on bat coronaviruses.
The source of that funding? The National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Disease, headed by.....(drumroll please)....Dr Anthony Fauci, lead medical expert for America's Covid-19 task force.
Now, this doesn't mean the virus was lab-engineered as a bio-weapon. But it does suggest a naturally-occuring bat virus could have been artificially accelerated along certain vectors.
Of course, this raises an awfully lot of urgent and important questions.
So far, Fauci has not commented on the Newsweek report. But we will be keeping close tabs on developments from here...

There wasn’t anything nefarious here - The Wuhan lab had been doing research on SARS and MERS - both viruses which had almost become pandemics of their own right (and did cause tens of thousands of deaths on their own).
Now you can question that the research should’ve been done in the US or that we shouldn’t have paid China to do it - but China was already doing it and there’s a certain amount of safety in having the research done THERE if it gets loose.
Not that that seems to have been any protection in reality.
The lab was under scrutiny for the past year as well for lapses in procedure which didn’t come up fast enough.
Rest assured this will all be rethought in the coming years.
Which it appears to have done.
I feel strangely disoriented. Like a media throw rug has been pulled from under me...what does this mean, this Newsweek narrative of sense?
Holy DOS Windows, Batman, Big Media has been right all along!
(Oh, yours wasn’t sarcasm?)
The bombshell is that the derp media would report this.
Non-sheep and Flubros have known about this from the get.
Oh Im not giving the media cred - its just patently obvious.
Ill need extraordinary evidence that Fauci is complacent on designing a bioweapon in China to profit off of it with his pal Bill Gates and had to up their timetable because Epstein was gonna blab the whole story which was why he didnt commit suicide!
Now THATS sarcasm!
The guy that was smart enough to discover AIDs says it was man made and that it came from the Chinese lab. That is good enough for me.
Your sarcasm style gung fu is strong.
Very nice.
If you strike a thorn or rose
Keep a-goin’!
If it hails, or if it snows
Keep a-goin’!
Ain’t no use to sit and whine
When the fish ain’t on your line;
Bait your hook and keep a-tryin’
Keep a-goin’!
When the weather kills your crop
Keep a-goin’!
When you tumble from the top
Keep a-goin’!
Suppose you’re out of every dime
Being so ain’t any crime;
Tell the world you’re feelin’ prime
Keep a-goin!
When it looks like all is up
Keep a-goin’!
Drain the sweetness from the cup
Keep a-goin’!
See the wild birds on the wing
Hear the bells that sweetly ring
When you fee like sighing, sing:
Keep a-goin’!

At the big demonstration at the Huntington Beach pier earlier today, someone held a sign reading, “arrest Fauci.” I made sure to take a picture of it.
Well, so much for that reason.
Fixed it for ya, this time...
Define man-made

Even if it wasn’t lab-made, it was likely lab-captured from lab-bats and lab-stored, until the accidental lab-release.
‘But it does suggest a naturally-occuring bat virus could have been artificially accelerated along certain vectors”
That has always been my thing.
Wow—that’s some serious rationalization there!
It depends on how you define ‘nefarious’. The adage “first, do no harm” is equally applicable to research as it is to medicine. When ego, stature, position, and fame become the primary drivers of what happens in laboratories, very bad things can happen. Pretty much anyone with a working knowledge of molecular biology, and some bench experience, could do the experiments that were being done with Coronavirus. It's not technically inaccessible science. Further, without a valid hypothesis you are testing, just changing sequences in a virus to ‘see what happens’ isn't even science.
That said, the Chinese were the first to use CRISPR technology to alter a gene in a fetus. This is also relatively easy to do, and isn't ‘great science’, and most of the scientific community was holding back on applying this technology to humans - because of very valid ethical considerations. Those considerations did not stop Chinese ‘scientists’ from using CRISPR on human fetuses.
It's that kind of absence of intrinsic ethics, and the unbridled drive to ‘be first’, etc., that is what is ‘nefarious’.
You don't play with viral pathogens, and ‘see what happens’ if you alter their binding repertoire, without having a really, really good reason, and really, really good containment.
At this point, it is actually much more naive and indefensibly dogmatic to conclude that this virus did not come from the Wuhan Institute, than it is to acknowledge that there is a much more than even chance that it did.
