On April 28, 2020, Quest Diagnostic announced that individuals can order a Wuhan virus antibody test online instead of having to go to a doctor for a prescription.
Americans who feel they may have been infected with COVID can finally get some answers with a quick blood test at a local lab. Quest says results come back within 48 hours.

You can ask your doctor to order the test and maybe insurance would cover that.

I am under the care of a lung doctor who is one the front line of this thing. Last meeting he said when the test becomes available, he will have his whole practice take it. I believe he means the antibody test. So I should get a notice soon.

FYI had antibody test yesterday afternoon. Had result (negative) waiting for me on my phone this morning. That was FAST. You should know right away. I installed the MyQuest app. Last night I logged in and authorized them to send results to my app. This morning the results were there.
Thought youd like to know how it went. FReepmail or ping if you have any questions.

Thanks for the info. Why did you choose to get tested? Did you have symptoms at some point in time?

I was the sickest (respiratory-wise) I'd ever been back BEFORE COVID hit. This was back in January. I (and my wife) was pretty sure it was the flu or some sort of severe bronchitis, but I wasn't tested or officially diagnosed when I went to the doc. Lungs felt full of water that I couldn't expel. Lack of sleep was awful. Never felt that way before, pretty scary.
Not knowing what I had was nagging at me though. The admittedly irrational "what if I had it?" question wouldn't go away. So I figured it was worth the bucks to me (my HSA is pretty stocked) to just put that question to bed once and for all.
Now, when I see people posting about how sick they were at Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years, etc. I know that MY illness at the time is irrelevant to any discussion of whether COVID was here earlier.
Also, I thought it was a good opportunity to learn about how the process worked in case others close to me felt the need to do it.

Thanks for all the info. I’ll know next week if I was right about my bout of illness in the beginning of March.
