Trump Invokes the DPA to Protect the Nation’s Food Supply Chain
DB Daily Update ^ | David Blackmon

Posted on 04/28/2020 12:59:52 PM PDT by EyesOfTX

On Tuesday afternoon, President Trump made a crucial move to protect the nation’s food supply chain. Faced with the closings of a number of food processing plants around the country – some of the largest of which, under the Smithfield name, are owned by Chinese interests – the President invoked the Defense Production Act to order food processing plants to remain up and running in order to ensure the nation’s supermarket shelves remain stocked with meats and other food.

Jennifer Jacobs ✔ @JenniferJJacobs · 2h BREAKING: Trump plans to order meat processing plants to STAY OPEN, declaring them critical infrastructure under Defense Production Act. Order meant to stave off shortage of beef, chicken, eggs, pork. Plant closures could have shut down as much as 80% of capacity, source says.

Jennifer Jacobs ✔ @JenniferJJacobs BREAKING NEWS: Trump executive order will mandate various meat/egg processing plants stay open. Trump had signaled in Oval minutes ago he'd sign an EO today aimed at Tyson Foods's liability. The order, though, will not be limited to Tyson, I'm told.https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-04-28/trump-says-he-s-issuing-order-for-tyson-s-unique-liability?utm_content=politics&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&utm_campaign=socialflow-organic&cmpid%3D=socialflow-twitter-politics …

Trump Says He’s Issuing Order for Tyson’s ‘Unique’ Liability President Donald Trump said he’s issuing an executive order aimed at Tyson Foods Inc.’s liability amid reports of coronavirus outbreaks at meat-processing plants that are disrupting the food supply...

Jennifer Rubin ✔ @JRubinBlogger He can order them to open but what if no one shows up? Will natl guard operate?

1,615 12:20 PM - Apr 28, 2020 Twitter Ads info and privacy 393 people are talking about this Other leftist talking points you can find in response to Ms. Jacobs’ tweet include these gems:

– He’ll use the DPA on Tyson, but on to get more testing kits made! (Of course, he hasn’t needed to use it to get test kits made since so many great U.S. companies voluntarily stepped up to the plate to do it.)

– Workers have died in these plants!!!! (No, they haven’t.)

– What about Tyson’s liability??????? (He’s going to sign an EO to take care of that issue.)

And on and on the inanity goes. Expect to see all of these moronic talking points rolled out this afternoon by Juan Williams on The Five.

This is absolutely the right action for the President to take given the state of play right now. The U.S. population has taken all of the restrictions related to the government’s response to the Wuhan Virus quietly to this point, largely because of the various stimulus bills designed to mask all the financial hardships and the fact that no one is going hungry because of it to this point. But that peaceful acquiescence and the increasingly tiresome “we’re all in this together apart” messaging would go down the tubes in a hurry if the pork, chicken and beef suddenly disappears like all the toilet paper suddenly did back in March.

You want to see massive civil unrest in this country like Jennifer Rubin and her fellow DC dimwit brigade are wishing for? There is no surer way to bring that about than through large-scale interruptions in the food supply chain.

This is the right move at the right time by President Trump. All else is just so much noise parroted by a pack of critics who never missed a meal in their privileged lives.

That is all.

"Please keep track of all the Chinese (CP) owned/controlled
corporations in America. Could come in handy later."

Nationalize and turn over to Americans, ALL such businesses
as the "bill" for our damages suffered due to their actions.

Start with the Enemedia.

Food, national security?

Ask yourself, where does our beloved G.I
get their food, their tasty M.R.E.’s from?

There is a slim to none chance that you’ll get Covid from food.

Cooking meats eliminates it, and if you do eat something that infected - your saliva and stomach acid will kill it.

The other side is trying to train wreck the entire economy of this country and subsequently other countries JUST to get political power. Talk about good vs. evil....

...

The Democrats wouldn’t make the attempt unless the corrupt media was on their side.

...On the other, I don’t want infected or exposed people processing my food.

Cooking works, preservatives in processed meats are helpful
Raw chicken has always been a problem to safely handle.
Always carefully wash hands and chicken processing areas.
Not too long ago all pork was presumed to have Trichinosis
Caution about E. Coli in Beef products is a matter of vigilance
Rabbit - Tularemia

Contaminated foods are an ancient problem. Improvise
Women have historically learned caution in processing foods, and for good reason, this is not that different

So now .gov will force people to work and produce a product, and at the same time people are in rebellion at what .gov tells to do.

Instead of letting food rot or be plowed over, .gov has a chance to purchase food products at a deal for long term storage if they have such a capability.

This use of of the dpa seems like a wet dream for a progressive.

I believe one of the provisions of the DPA is that companies forced to operates under a DPA declaration are indemnified against lawsuits over their operations. Trust me: This is the LAST thing the Democrats and their trial lawyer backers want.

Oh they’ll be happy as long as orange man is killed politically...you see they are pure evil and hatred is making them care less what happens to us, America or even their own family members...they think that when November rolls in and trump is booted out everything will return back to honky-dory..they’ll learn the lesson the hard way because of their pure hatred and blind ignorance our nation will never be the same again ever!! If Trump loses in November stick a fork in Ms America she done! I think I’ll move to Mexico by then they’ll have more freedom than us. And that is saying a lot!

I went to Wal-Mart this morning. Some blank spaces on the shelves but I was able to get everything I wanted and as much as I wanted. No limits on anything.

“Tyson Foods’s unique liability” is mentioned a few times. What is their unique liability?

Of course Democrats were screaming for him to invoke the DPA a month ago. Now that he does to keep the food supply stable, count on the Democrats, the MSM and Lefties on the internet to turn around 180 degrees and complain about it.

I read in some science publication a couple of weeks ago that every person carries between 5 to 7 active viruses in their system at any time.

They don’t bother most of us.

Don’t be fooled. Sick people aren’t going to be forced to work. This will mostly be a way to limit the ridiculous liability processors could face, as well as making sure ChiComs and other owners are not just sabotaging production.
