I dont have time to transcribe this entire Tucker Carlson monologue from last night, but wanted to be sure readers of the Campaign Update saw it, because its important.
The monologue is filled with facts demonstrating pretty clearly that stay-at-home policies have had little if any real impact on slowing the spread of this virus. These of course are facts that your government and corrupt news media are ignoring.
Heres a link to the clip: Carlson Monologue
Here are some of the key quotes from it:
Carlson: The whims of our political leaders are no unquestioned law: Dissent has been banned, and that ban is relentlessly enforced by the willing stooges in our media, who have finally stopped pretending they dont hate you. The definitely do.
What country is this? Well, Its a country in a lockdown. Were told we have no choice but to do this to stop our lives completely. Mass quarantines, they tell us, are the only way to save lives. But thats a lie.
They dont know its true, despite what theyve claimed. Theres no scientific record to consult. Its never been done. Were currently living through the largest and most expensive experiment ever conducted in human history. Weve spent trillions of dollars, and crushed millions of people, purely on the guess that a nationwide lockdown would save us from the coronavirus. Has it worked? Was the guess correct?
Lets look at the data: as of tonight, 8 US states have not issued shelter-in-place orders. The question is, have these states suffered for not locking down? And the answer is no, they havent, at least not yet. Currently, all 8 states are below the national average in coronavirus cases and deaths per capita. Thats not to say theyve been immune to the virus. They havent been, but they definitely have not been hit harder than other states per capita.
Those states are smallers and less dense than some of the hardest-hit states. But you can adjust for this.
In a recent article, journalist and professor Wilfred Riley did the math on this. He performed statistical regressions that accounted for population density, income level, age and racial diversity. He put his formulas out there and challenged anyone to come to different conclusions no one has so far.
He found that a states lockdown strategy had no effect on how severe its outbreak of Wuhan coronavirus actually was.
Are you surprised by this? Maybe you shouldnt be. You can see the same trend at work in other countries. Sweden, most famously, has never locked down. Restaurants there have never closed. That country is still suffering from coronavirus, suffering more in fact than we are in the U.S. But the countrys epidemic appears to have peaked. And without locking down, Sweden has, and this is the key, has fared far better than other European countries that did lock down. That includes Britain, Italy, Spain and Belgium.
How can this be true? It seems to contravene everything we hear all day long. Lockdowns stop the virus. Thats what they tell us, almost always at high volume and with maximum outrage and self-righteousness daring us to disagree. But in fact, theres not much evidence that its true.
A new study by researchers at USC tested large groups of people in Los Angeles County for the coronavirus antibodies. They found that as of early April up to 5.6% of the entire county had contracted the illness. That means up to 320,000 adults in Los Angeles had already had it. At the time, the official number of infected people was about 8,000.
City officials had no clue they werent even close. The virus had spread throughout a huge population right in the middle of the most restrictive in American history. What does it tell you? It tells you the lockdown didnt work.
Maybe forcing people to stay inside all day isnt actually a good way to contain a virus. Whatever the reason why it failed, it did. Our leaders guessed wrong: They claimed that a lockdown would halt the spread of the virus. It did not do that, not even close, and they need to admit that.
And then we need to change our approach based on the science. Not on their whims, but on the numbers and what we have learned.
But were not doing that. Public officials are instead by and large ignoring any evidence that indicts their policies or that might threaten their new and much-loved power. The dont want to know what the facts are.
Indeed, some are now promising even longer lockdowns, maybe through the end of the summer, and even tougher punishments for those who flout them. These are Americans!
This is insanity. It is definitely not science. This is not science. It has nothing to do with the publics health, much less the broader public interest. This is instead what happens when mediocre people suddenly find themselves with God-like power: deciding who can go outside, when people can get married, which medical procedures youre allowed to have.
Thats a feeling of omnipotence, and they like that feeling. It fills an empty place inside. They dont want to give it up. They want it to last forever, even as the country dies. But it cant last forever. Because its not their country. Its ours.
[End]
Is it really our country, as Carlson states at the end? Its up to all of us to ultimately decide.
That is all.
Watching it now. Thanks for the heads up.
Hey nice job on the transcription!!
Mike Gallagher played the entire monologue on his show this morning. It is fantastic. The entire country needs to hear this.
I sometimes have disagreements with Carlson but, not with this monologue.
The reason for the shut down was two fold 1) Not to overwhelm the health care inpatient system..20 hopefully an isolated non infected population would receive a safe and effective vaccine that would spare the uninfected from severe illness and death. The Swedes felt that shutting down the economy and isolating people would not alter ultimately the overall number of deaths from the disease and there would be definite benefits long and short term by not shutting the productive economy. IMHO the Swedes made the right choice
1) It is by no means clear that hospitalizing patients for acute care does much good. Little that is being done seems to mitigate outcomes once shortness of breath, hypoxia and actual pneumonitis develop. If hydroxychloroquine, zithromycin and zinc do any good ( and they appear to do good based on clinical observations and the drop in the inflammatory marker C Reactive Protein) it should be deployed in the earliest stages before hypoxia and pneumonitis develops
20 No vaccine is on the horizon and the economic shutdown has been extremely detrimental
Wow, I wonder how long before he gets the Trish treatment.
Morning Joe and his bride really need to watch this.

Now who’s spouting propaganda, Tucker? You can’t just use statistics to compare Nebraska with New York City in order to prove the point you want to make. The people in Nebraska aren’t packed in like sardines into a subway system. They’re not subject to the same risks that exist in New York City.
Rush is ranting along similar lines today. I get the impression that he thinks that if he says “OPEN EVERYTHING UP NOW!” often enough, reality is going to bend to his will and we’ll all go back to December, 2019. This is frighteningly similar to the divorce from reality that the leftists exhibit in their inability to get over Trump winning the Presidency, and their demand that reality conforms to their desire. “I’m a boy, but I wanna be a girl... so I’M A GIRL!” isn’t much different than “There’s a pandemic but I want the economy back so there’s no pandemic!”. Absolutely silly for Rush to rant “All the jobs created in the last eight years are GONE!” (cue up the violins). No, Rush. They’re not gone. Some are, undoubtedly, but when this virus backs off the vast majority of people will back to work doing what they did before the virus showed up. And then they won’t be unemployed anymore.
If you listened to the monologue you would know that the professor who ran the numbers not only put that into consideration he posted his formulas and challenged people to run the numbers themselves. So did you run them or did you just come in here for some dumbass rant? If you did, please post them for our benefit.
So in other words, you didn't. What a surprise. So instead of disproving him you proved that indeed you are a dumbass. At least I hope you enjoyed making a fool of yourself.
He barely touched the surface on the McKinsey & Company article.
Bump to what you wrote Osh. Pravious needs to put up or shutup. The language in his response doesn’t belong on FR.
Yeah, sure. When you don’t have an argument, simply insult people. Go away.
Don’t clutch your pearls too hard, they’ll break.
I remember being sick the week before Christmas. Did I have COVID-19? I have no idea, but there was no mention of the Coronavirus back then in our media.
It just amazes me how many freepers here have lost all reason and jumped right on the hysteria bandwagon you should be ashamed of yourself, I am in CA. population 40 million with 1,300 deaths hardly a reason to shut the whole damn state down!! My county in CA. Population 900,000, 347 cases 11 deaths ALL from nursing homes and we should be shut down destroying businesses and peoples lives!!{
I absolutely believe MANY in Ca. had this before January I had many co workers that were out of work in late Nov. & Dec. VERY sick tested negative for flu but felt like it was a very bad flu!! No ended up in the hospital, hospitals were NOT on overload ZIP, NADA, NOTHING!! Everyone got well in about 3 weeks and returned to work!!{
[[However, there is no data to determine when the people contracted the virus. ]]
That’s a very important point- thanks for pointing that out-
[[I remember being sick the week before Christmas. Did I have COVID-19?]]
A lot of folks had what is being describes as ‘the crud’- runny noses, headaches, sneezing, slight fevers, nausea, diarrhea, weakness- chills for a couple of days- shortness of breath- We got it around Feb- unfortunately there are no tests in our area- so we don’t know what it was- probably not the virus- but who knows? Coulda been i suppose
