(20 ILCS 3305/7) (from Ch. 127, par. 1057)
Sec. 7. Emergency Powers of the Governor. In the event of a disaster, as defined in Section 4, the Governor may, by proclamation declare that a disaster exists. Upon such proclamation, the Governor shall have and may exercise for a period not to exceed 30 days the following emergency powers; provided, however, that the lapse of the emergency powers shall not, as regards any act or acts occurring or committed within the 30-day period, deprive any person, firm, corporation, political subdivision, or body politic of any right or rights to compensation or reimbursement which he, she, it, or they may have under the provisions of this Act
Where is the Illinois General Assembly on all of this? The legislators have been largely absent from the Capitol for weeks on end and have repeatedly canceled session days.
The real answer is he and every other governor can do whatever they want until the people rise up and stop them either through the courts med through protest or both. Dont think this lesson or the peoples capitulation is going unnoticed by those in power
“Where is the Illinois General Assembly on all of this?”
State is controlled top to bottom by Chicago filthocrats.
And we have absolutely no evidence that spacing and masks and gloves changed the curve. I believe its running its course.....just like most bugs of this sort.
And to not give people the malaria cocktail. How many died because this was denied.
Hes next going to insist that there has to be a massive tax hike to cover the cost of the virus.
Tax increases will be used to bail out public pension funds of the heroic teachers, firefighters, librarians, county board employees, sewer workers, meter maids, pothole fillers (ad nauseum), not one of whom has missed a paycheck but whose fat retirement is in jeopardy because of Democrat corruption.
It appears as if no one in Springfield can count to thirty or check a calendar.
The Illinois General Assembly has been AWOL throughout almost all of the current crisis (repeatedly canceling legislative session days). The US Congress has met several times during the same time frame.
I am sure that the legislators haven’t missed a paycheck while doing no work and allowing the governor a free hand.
They wont stop him its not in their interest. Its up to patriots in Illinois to start court actions and daily protests to draw attention.
