The lockdown is killing people, too

...There seem to be similar developments in other countries, too. The New York Times published a piece on 6 April headlined, ‘Where have all the heart attacks gone?’. It was written by a doctor who likewise described hospitals in the US as being ‘eerily quiet’. He has heard from colleagues who are seeing fewer patients with heart attacks, strokes, acute appendicitis and acute gall-bladder disease than they would normally see. In Spain, health investigators found a 40 per cent reduction in emergency procedures for heart attacks at the end of March compared with a normal period. Doctors in Hong Kong reported a rise in the number of patients coming to hospital late in the process of cardiac arrest, when life-saving surgery becomes more difficult...

Come to think of it, I don't hear as many ambulance sirens as usual (I live near an EMS station). That could be due to fewer car accidents/people driving, but I can't say I recall (before the shutdowns) that many car accidents occurring around here that looked bad enough to result in injuries.

But, folks wanting to end the lockdown are ‘naught-Zs’ or something.

I badly needed a root canal in early March. The tooth was badly infected and I was in tremendous pain. Thank God I was able to get that fixed two days before all dental appointments were cancelled. If I did not get that root canal in time I could have gone into septic shock.

Here I was thinking that heart attacks might actually be down because people weren’t dealing with the stress of traffic and work. Just being able to sleep in might help a little. But maybe not.

Delays is chemo

Delays in Dialysis

Personal story: 1) My wife had an infected and broken tooth. She had horrible headaches and it took 5 days for us to get a dentist here in Dallas to take care of her. 2) Someone that works for me took their daughter to the hospital to be turned away because it wasn't an “emergency.” 2 days later they brought her back with pneumonia in both sides and in horrible shape.

Yes, this lock-down shit is also KILLING PEOPLE, but no one wants to see that. Right now, all our “leaders” are worried about how they can grand stand and show they did something, even if they their ideas or not based on any scientific evidence, are untested, and frankly most likely ineffective. At least in the eye's of the ignorant masses they can pretend like they “did something.” They “took action” and that's what leaders do, may it be our retard Dallas city ordering face mask use or get fined...

My dentist office sent an email to all patients informing us cleanings were cancelled until further notice, but they were still seeing patients for emergencies such as yours. I hope your dentist has that option in case something like that happens again.

Knox County (TN)Mayor Glenn Jacobs pointed out a week ago that stalling the Economy leads to higher unemployment. High unemployment leads to an increase in suicides. They (county) have experienced almost 10% of last year’s total suicides in the past 2 days alone.

I got the root canal dec 23rd. They insisted on a single visit approach. Then pain. They didnt redo until mid-january, that’s when they for the first time put in the anti-biotic and steroid. Mid-February was the culmination with placement of temp filling.
Still holding on with temp filling until now. I’m afraid to expose myself and have the reconstruction part done.
Waiting for our world to get closer to a cure first.

I begged my dentist for an appointment to get the permanent filling done before I get infected again. I am going in tomorrow morning to get it done. She is taking two “emergency” patients tomorrow morning. I will survive this one, but I feel sorry for cancer victims who are put on hold.

The gauntlet has been thrown down last week

it is time for America to open back up

we have defeated the virus

so start opening back up

Our very smart president has given a set of directives and now he’s leaving it up to the states as he should be

There are no more headlines about whining about needing ventilators or people are going to die

There’s no more whining headlines about there not being enough masks or beds or other equipment

Now there is but one and only one subject getting back to normal !!

Yes! Normal!

Baseball and apple pie ! and fairs and carnivals !

and work in restaurants ! and bars and nightclubs!

Bring back parades and sports!

And parties and picnics!

I’m seeing my first headlines today of beaches and parks being opened!

It’s going to be the good news - we’re going to get all of our fun back again

Whoa be to the politician!!

that stands in the way of Americans having their fun!!!

That’s a common misnomer. Even during the lockdown, an on call endodontist would still have treated you for that through antibiotics and, if necessary, repair or extraction long before any sepsis. Cancelations were for routine cleanings, cosmetic dentistry and other procedures that could be put off (i.e. fillings, crowns) for a short time without changing outcomes. Sort of how docs would do emergency bypasses, appendectomies, etc but held off on physicals, follow ups and elective surgeries for a bit.

Look at the symptoms of this virus.

20 years ago, had someone presented themselves with those symptoms, what would they have called it?

SARS, West Nile, Zika, bird and swine flu... these are all the precursors to the nonsense we experienced this time around.

All that has changed is that today we are able to rapidly isolate the virus, get a picture of it, sequence DNA, come up with a test and mass produce it cheaply. These sort of “viruses” have been going around all along, and all we have accomplished is to discover what has been happening since before most of the people in this forum were born, at least since the 1960s since the era of mass and cheap air travel and global movement of goods began around then at a high tempo.

Most of the measures implemented to “fight the virus” were probably bullshit and belong on a Penn and Teller show, not as part of national policy pretending to be scientifically based. You had still pictures from movies being presented in the media. Pictures from other countries (Italy) presented as New York. You had inflated data being presented as facts where anyone suspected of having died from the corona virus but untested were counted. Likewise anyone that was still alive but on their way out from another illnesses that did test positive were also included. So they got their 2% mortality rates which are more like ~.37% or so.

This corona virus scare was a massive exercise in group think, group hysteria, media sensationalism, politicians playing it to smear their opponent or grand stand like Cuomo from New York did. You had government agencies looking for their role in this and the DOJ was contemplating using ankle monitoring systems for those that test positive, the CDC got 8.5 billion extra and there will be new and permanent government programs and budgets because of this. You had nerds that never get to be on TV get their 15 minutes of fame and institutions got to get their name out there as they led the charge.

I work in cardiac care. We have patients who are scared of coming to the hospital, for any reason, and are delaying their care if they can.

“I badly needed a root canal in early March. “
______________________________________

My beloved husband lost a childhood cavity shortly after Gov Abbot put in place protection. He had in place an appt already set for a teeth cleaning for May so they just extended the time in the chair. Okay. He was mollified with that as it wasn’t harmful.

Then he experienced a crown breaking in half on the lower right side of his jaw. At least I think it was/is on the lower right side.

Then he talks me to extremely upset about his tooth. Again. It finally dawned on me that this was ANOTHER crown he lost. This time on the upper left side of his jaw. And by now, the man is fairly upset.

So I called the dentist and explained the issue. They called the dentist who was at home and had me bring in into the office the next morning at 8am for one of the crowns. I figured it was the worse crown-issue they started working on at that time.

So he’s got back to back issues/appointments with the dentist. As he was telling me the amounts involved I just went blank.

We have funds set aside for incidents like this; still, it’s not like you expect so much at one time.

where there was a cardiac arrest or stroke happening, covid stepped in....same with the number of pneumonias, UTI's, etc....

in the whole of America, we will probably NOT see a very large increase in deaths, covid or no covid..

I know how that feels, had 1 a few yrs ago. Crown didn’t want to stay in, chew nothing sticky on that side, worse was a abscessed tooth. It took so long the jaw locked shut for 6 weeks. Now I have a lower denture that he can’t get to adhere. It was relined before I got it, still to loose.

Course he’s not open due to virus, his staff was young mom’s, he was the only dentist, Ret. Army Reserve Col.

Has anyone else noticed the disappearance of the Red Cross during all of this pandemic?

I've read a lot of news online and posts here on FR but haven't seen one thing about the Red Cross helping people in this time of need.

What gives with the Red Cross? Anyone know?

I've noticed that the government and the media are reporting the number of people who are contracting the corona virus.

They report the ages and whether they are male or female.

But not one mention of the other 57 varieties of genders the liberals are always talking about have gotten the virus at all.

Is this just an anomaly or is the reporting wrong?

Just askin' for an acquaintance....
