Good post, except for the story about the Giant supermarket. Giant is a private business establishment, and if they have rules for wearing masks inside their premises you have no business telling them otherwise.

If I worked there and the company had a standing order for all customers to wear face masks, then I would have replied:

"Great -- you're a citizen, not a subject. Now you get your ass out of here and be a citizen somewhere else."

never wore a face mask in public. Only when the grocery stores “require” it. But gas stations etc...no mask.

Of course you are a citizen and not a subject, but this situation is unprecedented. This scourge has been publically known for only 3.5 months. We still don’t know a lot about it. There seems to be a lot of organ damage in survivors. If what you do only affected you, I’d say it is none of my business, but what you do DOES affect me, my 85 y/o parents, my <3 y/o grandkids and my sons and friends. No one is trying to subjugate you. Picking this hill to die on is only going to kill others too.

Citizenship in a civil society implies some concern for your fellow citizens.

I wear my Cowboy Action Shooting neckerchief (bandana) sometimes. It’s like I too am a citizen but the stores, owned by private citizens have decided to comply with what they feel is a health requirement. I need to eat so I go to stores. In my state you must wear a mask in a store. I have a couple of paper masks and like I said if I run out I use the bandana. If I wear my Stetson it really looks like I’m going to rob the store.

When a government or the lawyers for a business dictate that you need to wear a mask out of concern for the safety of your fellow citizens, how could they ever argue against Constitutionally Carrying a firearm out of concern for their safety as well?
