On this date in 1975, Phnom Penh fell to the Khmer Rouge Day One, Year Zero of its nightmarish four-year reign over Cambodia. That very day, the Prime Minister of the defeated regime, Long Boret, was arrested and summarily shot at the citys Cercle Sportif. Only weeks earlier, he had been furiously trying to negotiate any sort of peace with the advancing guerrillas
but his doomed government had little leverage. Boret was among several high-ranking officials whose names were on a death list the Khmer Rouge announced publicly; when the United States abandoned its support and evacuated days before, it was a surprise that Long was not among the Cambodian officials joining them...

In a sane world, every communist Khmer Rouge operative’s name would be a “death list” somewhere, and they’d hunted down with the same fervor as former Nazis.

Ironically though, it did take the Commie Vietnamese to invade Cambodia and put an end to the Khmer Rouge Regime.

We didn't lose the war, but as the result of negotiating a peace treaty with the communists and "not finishing the war" as you state, we at best delayed the ultimate outcome.
When we left at our leisure North VN was incapable of continuing the war; nonetheless, it only took them a few short years to break the treaty and prevail.
Yep. They want to reset history to ‘Year Zero’, just like the Khmer Rouge did.
