Diseases (most far worse than coronavirus) arise regularly. It’s just that previously they were not promoted as public crises. Now they will be. The media has the ability to effectively hamstring the country whenever it wants in service of its social and political ends.

The media can try to gin up another manufactured health crisis in the future. It might work. Or the greater danger might be when there actually is deadly, virulent, very contagious virus raging, the media won't be believed.

The media have ONLY the power people give them. While the near future looks chaotic in many aspects, I’m actually somewhat encouraged. Because there’s finally starting to be a little bit of pushback from We The People, where there never was before.

We will have to see how this eventually ends, but, already it seems that the number of cases and fatalities will be well below initial estimates. The economic fallout from all of this may well be much worse than the health effects.

Remember a recent poll, which rated various people and institutions on their response to the virus crisis?
In that poll, Trump had a 60% approval rating on his handling of the virus.
The media had only a 44% approval rating of their coverage of the virus crisis. Less than half of people approve of the media coverage. Clearly people see that the media are clearly biased and asking stupid questions at press conferences and just are trying to push their narrative against Trump.
The Demonrat Party, China, and perhaps CAIR.
Still, there are millions, collectively, of people employed in media- reporters, producers, editors, etc.; members of academe at all levels- professors, administrators, secretaries, custodians, etc.; government workers- police, bureaucrats, teachers, etc.; and various other demonrat constituencies who have to, at some point, fear the economic impact of the shutdowns on ad revenue, the number of returning students, and tax revenue and thus how they will be impacted.
They are the boss, too, it appears.
It’s naive to think MSM doesn’t have a huge impact on what happens. Early on Trump tried to keep a lid on this and it was very obvious very quick he would get crucified. He did a master pivot but make no mistake much of what happens is the reality of a vicious and hostile MSM an an upcoming election. MSM may not poll high but they still have enough power to be a big factor.
