Remember those Accelerator rounds from 25 years or so ago? A 30-06 moved well over 3,500 fps or so if I remember right. I forget who made them.
L
Remington. There were also guys using the bullet/sabot combination in hot 7.62x25 rounds out of CZ 52’s at 1800 fps...
-—and , IIRC, they had “pattern” at 100 yards about like a load of 00 buckshot at 5-6 yards—
I remember those. Made by Remington and surprisingly shot to about the same point as their 150 grain bullets at normal ranges.
I thought they were a great idea but didn’t catch on. I think I still have a few somewhere.
Remington 30-06 Accelerator cartridge was a 65 grain bullet, half lead / half nylon plastic. Cruel for the usual deer hunting, but fantastic for woodchucks. It lifted them right out of the burrow with an upper torso or head shot.
Remington. Fast at the expense of accuracy.
Remington made them in .308 win. I think that they were 55 grain bullet weight.
I haven’t looked, lately, but the sabots used to be for sale in Shotgun(now Firearms) News.
