What the hell? No store here in Columbus has toilet paper. I'm not looking to hoard the stuff, I just need to be able to wipe my a**. Why toilet paper???? People must have the stuff packed to the rafters in their basements and garages.
Best I can figure the news about no toilet paper during the Venezuela economic meltdown must have scarred our psyche pretty bad.
It's to the point where it might be prudent for the secretary of commerce to hold a news conference and re-assure folks that there is no toilet paper shortage.
Thanks for the tip. Mice like the smell of our cat even less.
Funny!
Got a HUGE pile of composting leaves in my backyard which I’ve been too busy to rotate. I’m sure you could find something fairly dry and clean on the bottom.
Time to buy stock in Charmin!
All of this amounts to retaliation over our wins in the trade war with our political and world-wide enemy, the nation of communist China.
They are in a life-death trade war with us. We will not win until chicom system is wiped out. Their Worldwide tentacles will require hacking them to pieces. This is what it looks like. It is time for us to retaliate.
As the poster points out, this Wuhan Virus is likely no accident, at least not completely. Trade with the US, which was always a war as far as China is concerned, is going badly for China, finally, under Trump.
I believe that the pressure was really on, inside China, to do something. The Chinese steal everything from the West, and this virus was no different. It got away from them.
Now, a stupid, stuporous America can get some inkling of how it’s own sell-out-America traders have been dismantling America in trade with China over the last 50 years. The “supply chain” was apparently something only Trump could see, until this screw-up.
Maybe God really is on our side, though I don’t know why.
Two weeks is way too short. Our government is planning at least a month and no it will not be voluntary the national guard, sheriff’s and local LEO will enforce it and if those refuse or are unable marital law will be declared eliminating posse comatatus and the army will enforce quarantine. Why do people not listen this is exactly what the CDC has said prepare for home isolation it was not some vast conspiracy against POTUS they are doing their job to prepare the citizens for the outcome they have the information to know is coming.
My good friend of 25 years showed me a message exchange from his younger sister who is in the epidemiology department in the CDC who is also working with the Pentagon she told him they were all told not asked by their superiors to have a months food on hand . point blank it was not a request by management so take that as you will but they are taking care of their own and these are the people who see all the real classified data that the arm chair experts here don’t have clearances for. Seeing that message exchange and who it was from I know his sister also for 25 years that’s all I needed to know that involuntary lockdown is coming.
Get Kleenex. Plenty of that right now.
Those who didnt prepare always complain about those who did.
Grasshopper & ant.
Choose wisely.
Do we wrap a roll around our heads? Because I don’t see how the traditional use of tp can stop the flu.
Its easy.
If you have to hold up and wait this out, you buy what you will need ahead of time. That includes food and toilet paper.
I heard at work, there is a rumor going around that the cardboard cores of t.p. rolls are all imported from China. Nancy and Chuck have successfully worked their base (the low-information voter) into a panicked mob. Now let’s see what they do with it.
“Potable Water supplies will be the least effected by a pandemic.”
I normally keep a couple of 40-bottle cases of water from the BJs or Sam’s just for convenience...walking, camping, long trips, etc. I’ve upped that to 6 cases. It’s just too cheap NOT to do it at $2.98/case. The only reason....the highly unlikely event city utilities shut down. The 6 cases would just be for transition to a more permanent supply of water thru the filtration system we have in storage. We actually have several sources nearby for long-term temporary water.
If there’s no need to use the extra water for that, then we’ll use it down to the normal stock of 1-2 cases. It’ll just be “money in the bank” and will not go to waste.
Would it make much sense to ship paper tubes full of air from China to the US? Or would it be better to ship the paper and roll them here?
Logistics experts please chime in...
So you’re going to imprison yourself for two weeks? Over this?
Okay.
Okay.
I consider it quite sane and normal to not try to drive or go about when I’m sick. I feel the same way about interacting with obviously sick people in the stores. Despite all of the hype, people ARE getting sick, and sufficiently for quarantines to be imposed.
Of course, one can go overboard, but to try to ignore what is happening, failing even to prepare to take care of yourself, can be worse.
“The Corona virus mutated into the Busch Light virus.”
Or is it the Bud Wipe virus?
I don’t always get a virus, but when I do, it’s Dos Equis Virus.
Panic buying CAUSES unrealistic shortages creating more panic.
Panic among people becomes a self-feeding mechanism, like a snowball rolling down a hill. It CREATES its own momentum, beginning irrationally and gradually making a concern rational - creating the shortages it fears.
I just did a quick inventory of the cabinet in my bathroom.
I have 33 rolls of t-paper stockpiled.
Last Veterans Day, all the Walgreens here in sunny Southwest Florida offered an attractive discount to veterans with proof of service.
I took the opportunity to stock up on paper products and salted nuts.
The nuts have long since been consumed, and very tasty they were.
But I expect that the t-paper and paper towels will last me through next Veterans Day. I just hope Walgreens comes through for us vets once again.
I don’t detect too many signs of panic here in sunny Southwest Florida — although the t-paper aisle at Walmart looked a bit picked over. There was still plenty of product to be had, but the aisle was about 60 percent empty and it appeared that most of the premium brands were gone.
It’s like Tulip-mania.
Aint it grand? I mean, WTH is wrong with people?
And there are a lot of those right here on this site.
