Somebody made a deal. Was it the DNC? Mike Bloomberg? Perhaps even Joe Biden? Pete Buttigieg, the young Mayor of South Bend, Indiana, who won the Iowa Caucus and performed better than expected in the New Hampshire primary and Nevada caucus (and arguably the South Carolina primary where he came in fourth), has inexplicably dropped out of the race two days before Super Tuesday.
Like I said, somebody made a deal.
Timing of the Buttigieg drop out is more than a little unusual.
Maybe he secured some sort of deal a quid pro quo, we might say.

While his chances of winning the nomination were low at this stage, leaving ahead of Super Tuesday, especially following a strong debate performance and over-performing in all four contests to date, it appears to be nothing short of some sort of exchange that pushed him to the decision. Perhaps the DNC told him they would back his run in 2024 if the Democrats lose or 2028 if they win. Maybe Bloomberg and/or Biden offered him a nice cabinet position; its almost certain the VP tap is going to a woman regardless of who gets the nomination. Whatever happened, its highly unlikely Buttigieg would have dropped out willingly with no assurances. He had absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain by waiting until after Super Tuesday.
Unlike Cory Booker, Julian Castro, and others who dropped out relatively early, Buttigieg had plenty of cash on hand. While its true he will now be able to apply that money to future campaigns, it still seems like a waste considering his age. As the youngest candidate with arguably the brightest future going, there will be plenty of time to raise campaign funds for his next endeavors...

I don’t think there was any deal at all. He did not get a good reception in the south. His brand of Christianity was not selling.
Maybe someone threatened to blackmail him by telling the world he was gay.
I self deleted what I was going to write
LOL yeah I do that sometimes, its like self quarantining, I say Im not gonna type it, not gonna type it, but sometimes I Just blurt it out LOL
The establishment thinks Biden will soak up his support and wants Buttigieg out. Warren will not get out because it would help Sanders.
Sorry, US not ready for a gay VP either.
I predict a SLO Joe and Homo ticket
Lord, I apologize for that one there. And please be with all the starving Pygmies down there in New Guinea, Amen
I suspect all of those Dem candidates on the Clown Car were raising private money from campaign donations and funneling it off shore.
Buttigieg was unlikely to reach 15% in many states Tuesday; his dropping out makes it much likelier that other candidates (Biden, Warren, Bloombeg) reach 15%. If more than two candidates reach 15% in each state, it’s hard to imagine how any one candidate gets 50% of the delegates overall.
He gets to leave the race with a claim of primary race success and early enough to avoid blame when things go haywire after super Tuesday. Leave after good showings in IS and NH, but a drubbing in SC, he can say he had potential and the clarity to know when to cut losses, save a lot of money for a future campaign, and “work to bring the party together in other ways”, or some CYA garbage like that. If he loses big on super Tuesday, he’s just another loser keeping the party fragmented. If he wasted his coffers trying to competez he’s a stupid loser.
Pete met with Jimmy Carter this mo6. Obviously offered a deal. Carter most likely supporting Biden. Cabinet position?
He had breakfast this morning with Jimmy Carter, right. I wonder what was cooked up. Someone on Twitter just got an email from his campaign a half hour ago saying Pete was canceling Texas but would be appearing elsewhere soon. No idea whats going on.
4 races, no delegates... dim prosoects for Suoer T.... time to go.
“wonder what he was given in return”
A nice donation and a tight end to be named later.
Pete pulled out.
They probably threaten to expose his Iowa scam.
Happens every time around. Politics is making deals.
The country is not ready for a second homosexual Democrat president.
I think Klobuchar and one of Biden/Bloomberg will be out after Tuesday. Warren will stay in to try and spoil Bernie. I think It’s a given Bernie will go into the convention with a plurality, the DNC just wants it to be close so when they screw him it won’t Bern the party to the ground. I don’t think it’s going to work.
Well if Pete was a halfrican it would be OK....
