The Social Security Disability Insurance system was established as a social safety net program for workers who lose the physical or mental ability to work at a sustainable gainful activity level.
It has become so much more than that. But a new rule from the Social Security Administration will improve the integrity and purpose of the Disability Insurance system.
The inability to communicate in English does not render someone unable to perform work, but under the Disability Insurance program’s qualification standards, it does make it easier for them to receive benefits.

We have so many people living off government programs, it is almost impossible for a democratically elected government to get these programs back on some course for their original purposes. Of course none are pay as you go, they are pay out as we borrow. Currently we are running at about a trillion a year deficit. Ever wonder where all the “money†went. Look at the cost of things like housing and precious metals to name a few. Money chasing fixed assets, the more money in circulation the more prices go up. Cold once was 35 dollars to the ounce. Now it is like 1500. Housing prices, without extremely low interest rates, few could pay a mortgage for houses today. It is that simple. Eventually the bubble bursts by needing bushel basket of currency to buy a loaf of bread or by having to tax those dumb enough to work out of existence. So, my point is the longer we keep kicking the can down the road and kowtow to every “need” of the non producers, the worse it will be at the end. FWIW, just yesterday I read we are sending “reparations” to those who were on Guam when the Japs took it over during WWII for atrocities they committed. Why the hell are we doing that. Whose is next, those in Manila?

I was sideswiped last weekend and injured. Can’t work right now, doctor’s orders. Can’t really handle even a short term loss of income.
Where the hell is *my* disability? Hint: there isn’t any. I’m SOL.
A minimal command of the English language should be a requirement to qualify for SS or any other government benefit.
It’s hard to belive just how many bad laws, regulations and processes we have—let alone the bad enforcement of our few good ones.

My SIL, New York Jew and hard core progressive, called her brother who worked for the SS admn 35 years and he said this was totally false. And, in typical liberal fashion, he stated that this was fabricated to create hate against “immigrants”.
I sent her the link to the statements from the Commissioner of SS admin & told her that I dispute her brother’s statement as does the Commissioner. I also told her that it was a typical liberal cheap shot to claim that this info was motivated by “hate”.
They ALWAYS devolve into ad hominum slurs when they debate anything. The only question is, how quickly they will do it.
So, I don’t debate them. I present facts and outline how they are wrong & then I walk away. Going any further with them is an exercise in masochism.

Incredible story and politicians still don’t think we should halt bringing in more Iraqis? We have it verified every day - politicians are insane as well as the dopes at the Pentagon and as we well know now the FBI falls into the same grouping. Of what possible benefit is it to us and to the US to bring in more of these types? The benefit is money in someone’s pocket...
