The Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office is forming a new "County Gun Team" focused on removing guns from dangerous offenders who don't have a legal right to own a firearm.
The specialized, five-person unit will consist of two crime analysts, two investigators and a dedicated gun violence prosecutor. It will focus on the task of removing guns from dangerous offenders who don't have a legal right to own a firearm.
It used to be a part-time job of the particularly motivated, Marisa McKeown, a supervising deputy district attorney overseeing the D.A.s Crime Strategies Unit, said at a Monday news conference. It needs to be a full-time job of a team of people.
McKeown was named founding supervisor of the District Attorney's new Crime Strategies Unit back in August of 2018.
Santa Clara County Supervisor Cindy Chavez added that she hoped the new initiative would remind the public to report troubling people who shouldnt have access to firearms.

Cool Bergmann M-18 submachine gun.
If the gun grabbers come out armed with those I’m getting me one!
They are targeting criminals and illegal aliens, in addition to those who have ever been committed.
We have always said they need to focus on removing guns from those without a legal right to own them.
Now when they do, folks still bitch.
FRONT TOWARD ENEMY
would remind the public to report troubling people who shouldnt have access to firearms.

A lot of cops.
Body guards for hollywood elites.
Hollywood elites themselves.
Politicians.
DiFi and her assault rifle.
Park supervisors.
Im looking for the footnote in the Bill of Rights that gives exceptions to the Second amendment havent found it yet.
Here come the Democratic Party “Brown Shirts” or SS!
For sure, criminals will obtain weapons any possible, particularly by stealing them. I've long held this view. It leads to the logic that gun sales to the general population need not be restricted. If there are zero restrictions, which I advocate, then it is possible for ex-cons to buy a weapon without a background check, namely because there would be no background check.
This conundrum has had me stumped until I get around to thinking that convicted criminals should do their time, pay their debt to society, and thusly have their full constitutional rights restored. If they are not worthy of full rights, it obvious they are not reformed and should further be incarcerated.
Any thoughts on this? I am still trying to create a position for myself.

It is difficult, because how do you know they are reformed?
Most are out in the population for a period of time, on probation.
One of he conditions for probation is they have no firearms.
How about we allow them limited firearms rights as a condition of probation.
Maybe, no pistols, but a shotgun in the home is ok for the first year.
If they do not mess up, then, maybe a rifle.
If they go through the entire probation without problems, then restore their full rights.
Troubling people? WTF is that? And who decides who is, "Troubling"? Is it the same people in CA who've declared the entire state to be a criminal sanctuary for illegal aliens?
And who are these unknown people who are supposed to be reporting and turning in these, "Troubling" people? Are they legitimate? Do they have a vendetta or have an on-going feud with these, "Troubling people" they're turning in? Could this be used to harass and or intimidate legitimate individuals?
So are they starting with the crips or the bloods?/s
Ditto all that!
Felons are felons and lawfully NOT allowed to have guns.
What problem do you have with that?
FReepers commonly deride the pols in Dem-run cities for not having the guts to take the guns away from criminals.
I’m guessing you won’t be the only one to complain now that one city has started such a program.
We should get to know the 5 people that will make up the small department. Perhaps run some background checks on them.
They think...the right is "wrong"..and that is "troubling"...
I think the opposite.
Exactly. Some are reformed, others will cycle through prison again. Taking this one step further ... So those that reoffend with firearms will do so whether it was legal for them to possess or not. It's back to the same thing, what ever measures taken to keep firearms out of certain classifications of people, criminals will find a way to get them if they want them
So if we take the 2A completely literally, "shall not infringe", there should be zero gun laws, because they do not make people safe and only limit the liberties of man.
I see taking away someone's ability to protect/defend themselves as a really big deal. Life and death level serious.
