Two More RINOs Join The Democrats In Senate – But One Swing Vote Gave The Victory To The GOP In The Impeachment Trial

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) announced Thursday night she would vote in favor of witnesses.

Bitter Mitt Romney, an angry Never-Trumper, said he would like to see John Bolton testify.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., may have the votes needed to bring the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump to a merciful end, perhaps as soon as Saturday.

With the Democratic Party needing four GOP defections to prolong the trial — the GOP has a 53-47 majority in the upper chamber — Collins was a willing participant.

“I believe hearing from certain witnesses would give each side the opportunity to more fully and fairly make their case, resolve any ambiguities, and provide additional clarity,” Collins announced in a statement. “Therefore, I will vote in support of the motion to allow witnesses and documents to be subpoenaed.”

Usually, the Vice president can vote to break a tie. Impeachment could certainly be different because the Veep has an interest, in theory, in replacing the President. Then again, so do Crazy Bernie, Amy!, and Faucahontas.

I’ve heard conflicting information.

I’ve heard that in case of a tie vote, that the motion to approve of witnesses is not agreed to, and then the trial will conclude. And that there is no provision for a tie breaking vote.

I’ve also heard that John Roberts can be the tie breaking vote, and if he wants witnesses, then there will be witnesses .

So apparently nobody really knows what will happen if it’s a 50-50 vote.

No. The Vp is not part of the jury, and neither is fancy boy Roberts. A 50-50 tie is a loss to the Democraps because you need a simple majority for it to pass. A tie fails.

Trump’s “VICTORY” in this #seinfeldimpeachment was assured from day one... whether or not the joke gets go limp along further like a penis on an 80 year old man before viagra was discovered... by delaying the inevitable with impeachment nonsense, is all that’s changed.

Trump was NEVER going to be removed over this joke.. and the Dems were NEVER going to get all the Democrats to vote for conviction, let alone another 20 or so Republicans to remove him.

It could be worse. We could be relying on The Maverick.

It could be worse. We could be counting on Jeff Flake in an elevator.

Schumer can advance motions/amendments like crazy. He had 11 calling for subpoeans for witnesses and documents before the opening arguments, and that debate went on for about 10 hours.

There is no practical limit to nutty ideas, and the senate will entertain all of them, no matter how nutty.

Pence was not sworn in as a jury member, so he can't vote on any impeachment proceedings.

House calls witnesses and decides to forward impeachment recommendations or not ...senate hears House case and votes...is this difficult to understand?....just have continuous witnesses until the end of time?...biggest crock of BS in my lifetime.....demonrats are not interested in the very things rats actually did and are bringing totally frivolous charges in a colossal waste of time and money.....I think every demon rat should be required to wear a ‘D’ around their neck so they can be identified...
