Another American Civil War or Manipulations by the Media?

Another American Civil War or Manipulations by the Media?

The Georgetown Institute of Politics and Public Service recently released a poll that asked voters to rate the level of American divisions from 0-100, with 100 being “on the edge of a civil war”. The mean response was 67.23.

No reasonable person believes two thirds of the population is poised on the edge of their seat, wringing their hands with worry over a pending civil war. A physical battle between Republicans and Democrats in the United States sounds like a ridiculous notion and perhaps a bestselling fiction novel. Imagine for a moment, millions of tree-hugging liberals who wholeheartedly believe that guns are evil engaged in a civil war with second amendment supporting Republicans. The hypothetical battle would be short lived and decisive.

Seven generations maintained quiet reverence for the sacrifices suffered to unite citizens during the American civil war of the 1800s. Today the term civil war is being used by media outlets to arouse the audience. Ominous headlines to shocking stories of division and contention certainly draw attention. The comparison of the environments and the implication of a brewing fight is offensive and ignorant. Our great nation faces enormous obstacles, but the disputes are far removed from the point of physical conflict, and everything is still within the realm of civil discourse. Unfriendly disagreements among neighbors and antagonistic mobs of like-minded political activist fall short of the passions and human rights issues that lead to a war.

The true enemy is disinformation, verbal chaos, modern society’s growing appetite for the shock factor and emotionally jolting headlines reinforced with bombshells of fire and fury. All Americans face a daily barrage of propaganda delivered by media outlets competing to get a click, view, like or a retweet, to increase their bottom-line. The media has weaponized disinformation like a mind-altering biological agent, infusing its victims with toxicity. The nation relies on headlines for reality-based accounts of events, but it is a challenge to watch a news report or read an article that doesn’t contain phrases that forgive the truth and welcome bias. Reporters, news anchors and commentators constantly interject the what-ifs in news stories, blurring the lines of fact and fiction and lead their followers into preconceived notions. The more far-fetched the headline the greater the odds the intended audience will take the bait.

Society must admit that journalism is dead, that journalistic integrity is now an oxymoron, and that clashing ideologies are continually being fueled by media maniacs. The elections of 2016 brought this truth forward. Journalism continues to hit new lows. Each stirring headline must be reviewed and researched, leaving the work of the journalists in the hands of the receiver. The trust once garnered by icons such as Walter Cronkite is long gone and now, we must operate under the guise of observational suspicion. We must question each headline and doubt the ostensibly heartfelt presentation of each anchor or author.

A revolt may be in order to reestablish the dignity and logical parameters of the first amendment. Freedom of speech is now the right to lie. A recent poll finds 50 percent of Americans have lost faith in the mainstream media. Democratic supporters particularly are fueled by headlines that tempt with lies. Most reports begin with the following statements: allegedly, if true, perhaps, it seems as though, seemingly, and the list goes on to cover any and all far-fetched theories as to why Trump shouldn’t be the president. The facts seem less important than ever before.

Perhaps the appetite evoked by constant propaganda can be satisfied. Some long for the truth and maybe the public is beginning to realize the media is fueling an unhealthy and biased narrative. Reporters who cried wolf repeatedly over stories such as Russian collusion and impending world war now face a backlash of a once trusting audience. Major news networks are suffering the results by way of lower ratings. According to the latest Neilson reports, all cable news outlets have seen declines in viewership from this time one year ago.

Society reached this pinnacle of irritation by way of baseless accusations and continuous bombardment of misinformation. Unfortunately, the common bond of humanity is being pulled and poked at by puppet masters delighting in our mental weakness. It is the duty of each person to seek out the facts and push back the temptation to rely on the regurgitated headlines of profit driven corporations.

Ideologies are at a fever pitch in America and next year a historic fight will be fought at the ballot boxes across the nation. Hopefully, Republicans and independents who once sat quietly by and counted on others to the decide the election will arm themselves with the weapons of choice, the truth and their vote.

"We are. If the liberals don’t get what they want, and soon, then they will turn to violence as they always have throughout history."

Agree. The American left is the worst of the breed. They are arrogant, and violent and they want to murder their political enemies or anyone who would not submit to their will.

What a ridiculous assertion. The true enemy is communism and socialism which have been gnawing away at our foundations since 1920 and greatly accelerated under the eight horrible Obama years and his “fundamental transformation.” The Democrats are today’s architects of this evil attempt to destroy the U.S. I highly recommend this article today on that topic: “Democrats: The Party of Death and Destruction,” by Jake Hoffman, Townhall, December 15, 2019.

The author brings to mind this old proverb: “There are none so blind as those who will not see.”

Pajama Boy isn't going to fight real men. That is why he is allying with the brown shirts in Antifa, gangbangers imported from South America, and terrorists from other cultures. The sad thing is that elitist snobs think the thugs they are choosing will still listen to "their betters" once their goons disarm decent Americans and hold absolute power.

John Bachelor has been running a segment on Fridays or Saturdays for about a year now with Michael Vlahos of Johns Hopkins University and the Naval War College about this exact topic.

Democrats just hoping they can they can lay the groundwork for the getting enough people to be comfortable with the idea. They might see if they can get enough military officers to assist them with a putsch.

That would be how it starts. An operation by politically connected elements in the military.

But I don’t think they have the machinery in place for this on the scale necessary to overthrow the United States government. Its way to late for them to do anything short term that wouldn’t be anything more than a bloody and horrible mistake.

But I wouldn’t put it past a group of individuals brazen and insane enough to try a kidnapping or assault in Washington either in this climate. It wouldn’t go over well and would not accomplish anything.

I think all this civil war talk is generally 24 hour news cycle/social media driven. I’m not convinced civil wars are even possible when so much of the population is generally so comfortable and entertained. The poorest people are the most likely to be obese and are the most entertained poor people ever. They are also generally unused to hard physical labor outdoors in all weather. Has there ever been a civil war with conditions like these? Granted these conditions are very new, so I guess one argument would be ‘there’s a first time for everything.’

A solid, real world warning sign might be if eligible voter turnout gets a 15-20% bump in 2020. That would put it around 75-80% probably. I doubt it happens. The people who choose not to vote have outnumbered the turnout for either political party for 100+ years. Voting is a pretty low bar for measuring how much folks really care in my thinking.

The Left is not just comprised by people who are Tree-Huggers. There are Leftists embedded within the government (and even the military) who would turn guns on Conservatives at a moments notice if they felt they could get away with it.

The right has been on guard. Just because you have some kind of childish view of what should be and anything less makes you feel insecure doesn’t mean there hasn’t been significant effort.

You obviously don’t have a the big picture of what’s going on and what we are facing. Debbie Downers such as yourself are one of our worst enemies because all you do is insult and demean but never help.

Really?

Yes, really.

I have personally observed Antifa affiliates training at more than one local range. They were serious and competent practitioners. They used to wear "colors" (hats, T-shirts, etc.) which made them readily identifiable. It has been a while, and the larger groups are gone. The individuals who are still showing up do not wear "colors" any more.

Everybody is very polite. And everybody has a plan.

I wish people would stop trying to throw a wet blanket on Civil War. It is the ONLY vehicle that can return us to a true constitutional republic, punish the evil doers, untangle us from foreign influence, and put us on a path towards single mindedness as a citizenry responsible to the God of the Bible.

Honestly and sincerely, how could the two mutually exclusive political sides in America today reach a peaceful resolution?

How could the sides act like 1965 or 1963 before the assassination?

Please fill in the compromise answer (as: Turn back most illegals, but call others undocumented, and give entitlements to ones who stay. Our current compromise solution.)

Examples: College students, professors and administration will not permit teaching of pro-American, pro-Constitution views. And will not allow any speakers to visit their campus to espouse such views. No professors can be awarded tenure if not leftists. Compromise?———

Another: Babies murdered in the womb or born and then placed on a tray while “the doctor and the woman will have a discussion” over letting the ndewborn baby die , killing him or her, or acting to preserve the baby’s life. Compromise?——

Another: Remove President Trump from office. Compromise?——

There are no “sort of” “in a way” “maybe sometimes” for these that satisfy.

Thus: at loggerheads all over America.

“It’s worse than this piece implies because the damage is long term.”

It’s so much worse that I almost believe this article is left-wing propaganda. It’s more likely just written by a Pollyana who wishes things were better than they are. But I can’t rule out sponsored propaganda.

I believe a civil war is on its way. We cannot expect the corrupt to investigate the corrupt. Simple as that. We have lost America and will never come back unless war.
