Experts say deepfakes will be used to swing the 2020 election.
deepfake video featuring an actor made to look and sound like the comedian Joe Rogan surfaced last week, stunning for its audio and visual accuracy. And Rogan was a great choice: He’s put out hundreds of hours-long video podcasts. There is a lot of material to work with.
If you’re not yet aware of what a deepfake is in the first place, it’s a way of using artificial intelligence to create fraudulent audio or video that sounds and/or looks like a particular person. In this case, we’re seeing a fake video of Rogan saying things he never said.
Rogan’s life in the public eye makes it easy to train an A.I system to pick up on the subtleties of how he speaks. It’d be significantly harder to do something like this with the average person, but this technology is advancing pretty quickly.
“The replica of Rogan’s voice … was produced using a text-to-speech deep learning system they developed called RealTalk, which generates life-like speech using only text inputs,” is the explanation from A.I. startup Dessa, which created the video.
The company had previously created an A.I. system that could mimic Rogan’s voice, and now they’ve created a deepfake video that’s relatively convincing.
After Dessa released its audio deepfake of Joe Rogan in May, the team started working on making a realistic deepfake video to go alongside the audio, and what they’ve created isn’t bad.

Wow, just wow. If I didn’t know any better, I would say that it was Joe Rogan. Chilling to say the least. I am sure deep fake videos will pop up during the election cycle and it won’t be good. Scary.

Wonder how much fake Video LSM has already been working on? To go with their manufactured narratives.
I know that Adam Shciff and a bunch of democrats are hoping that stories like this will save them. Some videos will be too complex to have been faked. Also the date that the video was made and stored as evidence will be importaint.
I'm sure the Biden video will now be announced as "debunked", then removed from YT. The "deepfake" defense used in place of the "hacking" defense by Demwits in and out of media, in 5, 4, 3...

there’s no way in hell a “deepfake” video would withstand forensic inspection... digital evidence of editing would be all over the place
Just like copy machines and counterfeiting, there will be means for authentication. But it will make for some fun stuff. As usual, porn will be first to exploit the new technology.
Joe is excellent, except for his incessant vulgarity. I can hardly sit through one of his shows because of that.

it’s a great tactic by the Dems and other assorted fascists and kommies, because when REAL videos of their peccadilloes and misdeeds surface, they can claim that they’re “deep fakes”; they’ve already made this claim a couple of times, including when Jim Acosta accosted that press conference aide trying to take her microphone back from him ...
