"""So much for the #Resistance! While all eyes were on impeachment hearing, House re-authorized PATRIOT Act""" House Democrats have slipped an unqualified renewal of the draconian PATRIOT Act into an emergency funding bill – voting near-unanimously for sweeping surveillance carte blanche that was the basis for the notorious NSA program.

A three-month reauthorization of the notorious PATRIOT Act was shoehorned into a last-minute continuing resolution (CR) funding the US government, bundling measures needed to avert yet another government shutdown with a continuation of the wildly-intrusive surveillance powers passed after the 9/11 terror attacks. Democrats voted almost unanimously for it, granting the far-reaching surveillance capabilities to the very same president they’re trying to impeach.

A roll-call vote on the bill was split exactly along party lines, with all 230 Democrats standing up for unconstitutional mass surveillance – including progressives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York) and Ilhan Omar (D-Minnesota), who spoke out against it earlier. Two other Democrats opted not to vote, but not a single representative dared oppose party groupthink.

To top it off the Democrats voted to waive the "72 hour read the bill" policy after they ADDED A Provision... So it seems we are back to they had to pass the bill to see what they voted for...........Vote the Dems out!

Just because the House passes a bill, does not mean the Senate will pass the same bill.

I don’t see the advantage for dimocrats to do this. They are no longer in charge of the ‘spying apparatus’. Are they not afraid it will be used against them?

The Patriot Act was a needed bill if only used by honest men. The present insanity of FISA warrants are a function of the Patriot Act. When one is a political person with the power of the Patriot Act I assure that he be left or right will abuse this great power. How many politicians will abide The Constitution as opposed to their individual political objectives.

The Patriot Act did stop many bad actors that wished our nation great harm. The Patriot Act has become become a political tool of the left. The danger of the Patriot Act far exceeds its good. It must be ended.

It has become a “Star Chamber” whom the accused have not legal rights nor even know they are subjects until brought into secret prosecution and can not even go public with this prosecution and constitutional violations of their rights.

The Patriot Act was an act quickly done post the 9/11 attack. It had the support of Congress and our nation. It was a horrible error.
