Here’s why it might now be advantageous for the Republicans to hold a long, full Senate trail if the Democrats, as expected, send over articles of impeachment:
In a Senate trial, the Republicans will control the process. They will control which witnesses get called, how the hearings are conducted, what will be considered relevant to the proceedings. They will be able to compel the fake whistleblower to testify, Hunter Biden to testify, and myriad others who Adam Schiff refused to allow into his circus process. If they chose to, Republicans would even be able to call Schiff himself, along with his staff, to testify as fact witnesses about their pre-coordination with Eric Ciaramella, and how they and their Lawfare lawyers actually participated in the drafting of the complaint that kicked off this whole clown show.
A long Senate trail would disrupt the Democrat primary season. Republicans would be able to force Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Amy Klobuchar and Michael Bennet to sit in the Senate chamber, day after day, six days a week for as long as they want to keep them there, off the campaign trail. It would be a major disruption to the Democrat nomination battle, and would pretty much ensure that their nominee would either be a 77 year-old buffoon who doesn’t know what state he’s in most days or a 37 year-old neophyte who would be easy pickings next Fall.
A long Senate trial would allow the Republicans to publicly litigate the whole DNC server fraud. Maybe most damaging for the Democrats, Republicans would be able to compel testimony from Christopher Steele and witnesses from Crowdstrike and get them on the record on national television, testifying under oath about their activities during the 2016 election campaign and who paid for it all. They could even compel testimony under oath from John Podesta and Donna Brazile and Debbie Wasserman Schulz (remember, Schulz and Brazile were heads of the DNC during that time) and even Hillary Clinton if they want to. If it turned out to be politically advantageous, they could also compel testimony from James Comey and Peter Strzok and Andrew McCabe and John Brennan and James Clapper and all the other Obama-era coup plotters who are now employed by MSNBC and CNN.
Remember, when this impeachment scam first started, how President Trump and Giuliani and others said that Pelosi and Schiff had walked into a trap? Well, there it is.
That is all.
People seem to think the Senate GOP wants all of the skeletons out of the closet. Given their own backgrounds, I think that might be wishful thinking.

President Trump could also demand that Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Amy Klobuchar and Michael Bennet recuse themselves as they obviously have a conflict of interest.
Linda and Burr are the first two that come to mind who don’t want the lights turned on in their closets.
And keeping those four losers off the campaign trail only helps the other losers. I think a protracted trial serves the Dims. If it ever gets to the Senate, have a couple of witnesses dismantle their case, and vote early. I think the Dims want a cloud over DJT when it’s time to nominate another SC Justice.
OTOH, if they vote impeachment down, Shiff and Pelosi come across as the partisans they are.
It’s finally very very clear to me after watching Schiff, that the dems know full well that there is going to be dozens of 100 gallon cans of @ss whip coming down the pike real fast.
Even CNN and MSNBC will be forced to cover it. Once, one guy is arrested, which it appears is happening now, the cards will fall.
I see this a full time media blitz, that will be riveting. NIGHTLY HEADINGS ABOUT THE LATEST INDICTMENTS....COUP ATTEMPTS... ETC ETC.
The Dems know this is coming, so the only way to get in front of it, are these impeachment hearings...
I really don’t think they’re that stupid, but maybe they are. Certainly the gang of 4 are going to push for it, and of course the left wing media out there will keep pushing for it....

Now the gig is up, they must impeach and Trump must have his trial and defense in the Senate... Both Biden’s and host of other nefarious characters will be brought before cameras and forced to answer questions and saying no is not an option. This will be hilarious and entertaining... Much more entertaining than the phony and very dull House hearings.
My best guess... Nancy will find some procedural out... Impeach with a motion to immediately dismiss by the House and keep it from getting to the Senate? Is such a scenario possible?

Their voters like it that way. The more they tie the party line, the more woke they are and their sheep are happy.
Democrats walk into a trap? Unlikely, since they’re dealing with an undisciplined stupid party that’s also a creature of the swamp.

I am very confused as to why they did this at all.
strangely, Mitch has indisputable backbone and genuine conviction on judges. also strangely, that’s it (well, he was good years ago on campaign finance, contra McCain but that was years ago).
our prayer should be that Mitch somehow sees this as “like judges” then he uses his considerable powers of intrigue to gut the D’s....but if he puts this into the “like not judges” bucket, ugh, that will be bad.
Pelosi is going to lay this at Schiff and Nadler’s feet. Until the high crimes and misdemeanors are documented with actual evidence, this will never make it to the impeachment stage.
As a side note, if the rats really want Biden as the nominee, keeping the rat senators in court only helps Biden.
Whatever the “trap”, I hope it’s a politcal Conibear.

The Dems are so filled with hate and rage they will proceed right into the firing squad.
-- The Democrat/Left is too invested in impeachment and if they don't impeach -- despite the enormous downside -- they will once again give their whacked-out base nothing after all of this.
-- Democrats/Leftists "think" and act emotionally, not rationally. Their hatred of Trump and their denial of reality is what fuels their irrationality.
-- The Democrat/Left has no one who can defeat Trump in 2020. Following his re-election Trump will very likely be able to nominate one, two or perhaps even three young conservative justices to the US Supreme Court. The Democrat/Left simply cannot abide this; they cannot "leave any timeouts" on the election clock.
Now, wouldn't it be a glorious thing if, as a result of all of this, the Democrat/Left finds itself out of power in all three federal branches? The possibility is real and they know it ... but in their frenzy the Democrat/Left just doesn't care. They will, though, when it happens.
