On Jeff Sessions

Posted on 11/07/2019 6:27:48 PM PST by cotton1706

Who wants to bet that Mitch McConnell contacted Jeff Sessions to get him to run.

To prevent a conservative from winning the seat, that is, prevent a non-good-old-boy conservative, for Sessions is certainly VERY conservative.

But McConnell likes people who go along.

So he's intervening, as he always does, to prevent a MAGA type conservative from getting into HIS senate, just as he prevented Tea Partiers from getting elected, then co-opting those that did.

Whichever Republican gets the nomination in Alabama will win the election in November. So McConnell will do what he has to go get one of HIS boys the nomination.

And then he will tell Trump he has to endorse the Republican nominee.

He's an insidious, scheming snake. And the ONLY reason he's confirming judges is to keep conservatives on his side...because he's ALSO up for re-election next year, and he really likes being majority leader.

But always remember, he prefers Murkowski types to Cruz types

Mitch McConnell has turned around. He will get POTUS’s judge picks through and will stop the stupid impeachment ploy.

Mitch is doing what is needed.

Chris Christie would have done a better job and would have never recused himself over a bunch of MSM nonsense and rumors.

I take a lot of crap here on FR for being a Chris Christie fan -- at least when it comes to his tenure as governor of New Jersey.

But there is no way in hell that guy should have been considered for ANY position in the Trump administration. You're right: He never would have recused himself. But he would have spent every waking moment working behind the scenes to undermine President Trump.

People forget that Chris Christie was a big-time Bush family loyalist. And I'm convinced he had already sold himself to both Mitt Romney and Jeb Bush to be the U.S. Attorney General if either of them won the respective elections in 2012 or 2016.

I think it's about time Freepers stopped deluding themselves about what that guy was all about.

You are correct. I know because I followed it.

Unless the same GOP-e recant and endorse Moore, I say it’s too risky.

I don’t like what they did, but the reality is they did it.

As for cotton1706’s post link regarding Mooney, that is required reading.

I grew up in DC too.

The difference is Trump has the benefit of hindsight regarding what happened to JFK. He has the NSA which knowd more than the CIA deep state. Trump has the info advantage and knows his enemies are trying to kill him. But he knows more about what they doing than they know what he’s doing.

It’s a different ballgame now.

If Jeff "thank you sir may I have another" Sessions had an iota of integrity he would have resigned the day he recused himself.

Not offer his resignation. Resign while running for the front door.

How hard can it be to find a conservative to run for Senate in Alabama?

The Deep State told Sessions to recuse himself, and Sessions did exactly that.

The term “Deep State” did not even exist when Sessions was going through confirmation.

I believe the term Deep State has been around for a number of years. It's more widely used now. Certainly the concept of the existence of a Deep State has been around for a long time, regardless of the term that has been used to describe it. Beyond those semantics, my point still stands.

“Sessions defended the Mueller investigation and called it legitimate.”

Yes they did. But Sessions was the worst offender.

I personally am not enamored with Sessions. I just want what the President needs, a reliable vote behind Mitch.

It's way too early to settle for Sessions.

Sessions actually said, I had a great tenure at the DoJ!

At a minimum, he is detached from reality by a spectacular degree.

Comey, Strzok, Page, Yates, Ohr, Nellie Ohr, Mueller, Weismann, Stephan Halper, Joe Pientka, Mifsud - these people all needed Sessions to stand Down and let them do their work.

Sessions did his part.

I see. It’s too risky to vote in the state primary for a true Conservative but, it’s not too risky to vote for Sessions, a GOP-E flunky that stabbed our president in the back?

I pray that your weakness, lack of willingness to fight, is in the minority.

I think the people of Alabama will not soon forget Sessions pathetic Cuck backstabbing of our president when our president needed him to have his back against the democrat premeditated / organized coup.

Sessions was not just missing in action, he was the equivalent of the pathetic coward Patton threatened to shoot for cowardice in the presence of Valiant and Brave wounded Warriors.

He ran against JEB in the primaries

Christie was no friend of Romney, Romney had some pretty bad things to say about NJ Fat Boy.

He should have been AG in the Trump administration, and left Sessions in the senate where he could not have not much harm.

Christie went after political corruption during the GWB administration and took out dozens of corrupt democrats in NJ.

Sounds like the kind of guy we needed, the spygate bullsheet rock would have exposed for exactly what it was. And we would not have had a 2 year Mueller Investigation and we would have GAINED seats in the senate and house races like never before. Mueller was on the minds of 2018 voters and was the reason we got killed in house races and barely took 1 additional senate seat when we could have had 6 or 7 easy.

Sessions failed on the field of battle. Why would anyone go into battle with him again?

Fox News is trying to rehab Sessions.

Just like they embrace Romney every time he attacks Trump.

Susan Collins, Romney, Comey’s boy Sessions.

Sessions Investigator, Huber, has essentially been relieved of his duties, after doing nothing for 20 months.

You go to an Obama man when you want the Investigation to die.

You ought to do some research on Christie before you make such baseless claims.

Christie destroyed any chance he had at a cabinet post in the Trump administration in the hours after the infamous “Access Hollywood” tape hit the airwaves. Trump called an emergency meeting of his senior advisors at Trump Tower to salvage his campaign, and Christie refused to even answer his phone.

I don’t know where people get this idea that he would have been an effective, no-nonsense guy as AG. He was a egotistical jerk and a political opportunist of the worst kind. Look at photos and video clips of him throughout the 2016 campaign, and one thing you’ll notice is that he spends an inordinate amount of effort pushing his way around to get into prominent places in camera shots.

There’s a reason why he has been conspicuously absent from public view in the last year or two. He’s burned bridges with people all over the political landscape.

I think he’s better suited for the senate than AG.

Jeff Sessions or Tommy Tubberville. Which one is a team player and which one has betrayed the President? I will be supporting Tubberville and will not be fooled again by Session’s BS.

Trump will be better off with a Sen. Jeff Sessions than with a Sen. Doug Jones.

While true, totally irrelevant. The choice is who will represent Alabama Republicans in Senate race, and there are much better people running than an over the hill former AG who let his predecessors staff walk all over him.

Hey! Call up all your dingbat friends and tell ‘em there’s another Alabaman that needs badmouthing!

Shelby endorses Sessions for return to Senate
http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3792432/posts

Yep. Don’t you think Senator Shelby should be forced out of office as an evil blackhat conspiring with the evil ‘backstabbing’ Sessions?

And Shelby is joined at the hip with Ditch the Mitch McConnell. Should we get rid of McConnell too?

Hell, the way you seem to see it, might as well take out half the GOP Senate, yes?
