There is a silver lining to the Kentucky Governer's election results that should scare the hell out of dimocrats and give new hope to Bluegrass Republicans. 1. Bevin had a bad case of foot in mouth disease. However, he wasn't any worse than any other non-politician. What made it so bad was the fact that ALL major TV and news papers in the Commonwealth are virulently liberal. When Bevin did good things the media would turn it around and trash him. When he slipped up they made seem like he was the second coming of Hitler, and then they plain made up stuff about him. Overcoming massive media bias in an entire state is a difficult task. 2. Two months ago USA Today called Bevin the most unpopular gov. in America with 30% approval. With that in mind it's amazing that the election is too close to call. 3. The Rest of the Republicans on the ballot won easily. 4. Beshear, had several major advantages. firstly, the media was on his side and propped him up and attacked Bevin mercilessly, secondly, Beshear used his office to attack Bevin at every opportunity and he began right after Bevin was elected and took him to court on every issue, although Bevin won most of those court challenges. lastly, Beshears daddy was a two term gov whom the media loved and still do considering that he ransacked the people of Kentucky. With all of this in mind, the election should have been a walk away for Beshear but it was too close to call (I suspect dimocrat shenanigans in Fayette and Jefferson Co). that this election was too close to call proves that Trump has a very strong following and broad support in the Bluegrass state and Republicans in the state legislature need to realize this and deal with dimocrats from a position of strength. Kentucky will re-elect Trump in 2020 and if we can find a decent candidate we can take the Governor's Office next time around. And the other silver lining from last night is the #2 UK Wildcats whupped up on #1 Michigan State 69-62 in Madison Square Garden. Woohoo, GO BIG BLUE!
There’s a pony in there somewhere!
Bite me.
Bite me, too. Go Green!
You think that sports jingoism is unique to Kentucky? I live by Notre Dame, trust me, it’s the same pathetic obsession all over. People with no connection to a school, devoting their entire self in pursuit of fandom. I use to enjoy sports entertainment, but ive woken the heck up and realized all the wasted time that is irreplaceable. Sports has become the perfect tool of the left to keep conservatives hypnotized and immobile on the couch. You think the left is sitting around watching ball games? No, they run pro sports for you to watch, while they organize protests, beat up people and impeach our president.
This guy was 17 points down. Trump tried to pull him over the finish line.
The rest of the GOP slate won. That is a win. Stop pretending this was a loss.
Beshears will govern from the right side of the aisle anyway as he’s certainly not a fanatical liberal.
Agreed that this is a fair analysis.
What’s the breakdown of the KY legislature. We already know that all the constitutional officers are going to be GOP.
Beshear may have won a pyrrhic victory. He may not be able to get much done — i.e. screw over the people of the Bluegrass State in typical RAT fashion.
Don’t want to sound like an optimist here. Hopefully, our side will get even in Louisiana in a few days.
“You think that sports jingoism is unique to Kentucky?”
No, not at all. I’m talking about UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY EXCEPTIONALISM! Which is entirely different from the rest of the sports world.
Bite me, too. Go Green!
Go Maze and Blue!
Do you not have an Enter key?
Its impossible to say all Libertarians would have simply voted for Bevin if the Libertarian candidate was not in the race.
Perhaps all or most of those 20,000 Libertarian voters would simply have stayed home. Maybe the Libertarian actually attracted some Democrat voters. At only 2% of the vote, we simply can’t know.
“Bite me, too. Go Green!”
“Go Maze and Blue!”
There have got to be a couple of fellow hillbillies who can help me level the playing field on this one.
“Losing” by 0.036% is hardly a loss.
The Republican’ts in Kentucky should be fighting like wildcats now to prevent Rat ballot stuffing, mystery ballots showing up in a car trunk, late ballots etc etc.
They need to go ALL OOT now to overturn what was most likely another crooked result.
The Rat media in KY that I am reading is tut-tutting that no one has ever won a recount there, but so what. No time like the present.
I am NOT looking forward to the upcoming trip to Ann Arbor for football...
Well I certainly can appreciate an exceptional sense of humor!
Last night the Kentucky Libertarian Party boasted about defeating Bevin, ON PURPOSE. They set out to do this, it wasn’t a coincidence.
Now they get a Rat Governor like everyone else in Kentucky. The good news is the Rat is all alone. He won’t get crap done for the next four years.
Bevin has not conceded the Race. We’ll see how it ends up.
Now we concentrate on getting the Rat Governor of LA kicked out.
Maze is NOT a color...
One and Done U.
“Well I certainly can appreciate an exceptional sense of humor!”
There is nothing humorous about UK EXCEPTIONALISM.
“One and Done U.”
So what if it is? It’s a rule made by the NBA not the NCAA and tt’s a matter of fact in top college basketball now days. Calipari was one of the first coaches to embrace it. Besides you Jayhawks just got your ass handed to you last night as UK has done so many times before, so enough with the sour grapes.
Here is a primer on Kentucky. First, KY is NOT a Republican state. It is a conservative state. Big difference. The Dems have a 2 to 1 registration advantage. KY Dems do NOT vote for national Democrats that promise to kill babies, take our guns, ridicule Christians, and shut down our coal mines. Some KY Dems, however, WILL vote for Democrats on the state level, especially white, male, good ole’ boys. Matt Bevin was very unpopular for a number of reasons. He never fit the state well (Connecticut Yankee dressed in Armani suits in a Southern state). He earned lots of enemies, even in the Republican Party. In the end, Republicans swept 5 out of 6 statewide offices, and Bevin came within a whisker of winning, despite his approval rating being 30% ish. This race does not reflect on Trump badly.
