Congress fell short Thursday in its second attempt to end the national emergency President Donald Trump declared to secure money for his proposed border wall.
Both chambers of Congress have passed measures to block Trump’s declaration twice since the president took the step in March, prompting two vetoes. Lawmakers failed to override the second veto Thursday as the GOP-held Senate could not muster the two-thirds majority needed.
The chamber voted by a 53-36 margin to end the emergency. Ten Republicans voted with Democrats in supporting the resolution.
Democrats and some Republicans have accused the president of overreaching and disregarding Congress’ power of the purse by declaring the national emergency. A federal judge ruled Friday that Trump violated the law by using the declaration to divert money to wall construction — though the ruling will not affect a major chunk of the funds he hopes to use for the barrier.

I heard on the David Webb show this morning that there were 10-12 Republicans who will vote to impeach. It was these 10 plus two I don’t remember. I don’t remember who the guest was who mentioned it either.

So each vote is different. For the wall, I am with the president and for wind mills I would vote against.

I think that the Republican Senators are unaware of the avalanche of rage that they will have listen to if the House impeaches President Trump. They might be idly thinking of how fun it will be to vote for impeachment but it is delusional.
I would say that any Republican that votes for impeachment has a 50-50 chance of losing their primary election and, if they survive that, a 75% chance of losing the general election.

Well I didn’t say I liked it, necessarily. The constitution gives broad powers to the chief executive. And, congress has abdicated its role in many, many ways. In some ways they are kind of a “For Display Purposes Only” kind of organization.
Most people are fine with authoritarian, dictatorial rule, provided they happen to agree with whatever it is they are dictating authoritatively. Democrats to be sure, have shown themselves perfectly willing to use the power of government, the power of the state, as a club to beat people over the head with to punish them for not being sufficiently leftist.
Turnabout is fair play, right? Notice the bolshies are all singing a different tune NOW, “the president can’t do that!” when it’s something they don’t agree to. Threatening to pack the Supreme Court with a half dozen more Justices.
When things go “their way”, everything is fine. “Democracy” is wunnerful wunnerful. Now? Well, maybe it’s time to think about rule by technocrats. They are obviously too stupid to bow to the wisdom of our “experts”.
“Free Speech” was great, I’m told, at Berkley in the 1960s. Not anymore though. Now that they are in power. We could go on all day, and night, and on into tomorrow ad infinitum on leftist wankery. They don’t believe in the constitution except insofar as to subvert it, twist it, kill it, and use it to their own ends to gain absolute power.

Important observation. It’s not his wall traitors it’s our wall. Paul is the most surprising name on the list, maybe the only surprising name. I think it’s safe to say the Rats will get their majority to convict if there’s an actual impeachment. Make no mistake that optic will hurt the President.

That was mainly concerned with using Anglo-Saxon expletives. We were told all old ladies _had_ to hear the word f^(k. Then, we were told they had to _say_ it.
It was the precursor to the earnest belief that “all males _need_ to experience the feel of a (male sexual member) in their mouth.”
In retrospect, it was simply another milestone in the degradation of American culture. Note, there was no recognition of the right of anyone to NOT hear/say/experience something they found offensive.
Now, of course, the same people and their students and children claim to feel uncomfortable consistently with any aspect of our former history or culture. And _their_ discomfort is given moral authority.
Censorship of political speech in the name of the claimed discomfort of even one member of the prog coalition is now *deemed* to be *hate speech* and universally disallowed.
See how that works?
