McConnell Can Give Impeachment The Merrick Garland Treatment
Politico ^ | 9/28

It’s on track to be the trial of the century: President Donald Trump fighting to keep his job before a jury of 100 senators.

It also could never happen.

That’s because of a Constitution that designates the Senate with the “sole power to try” an impeachment that comes from the House.

But nowhere in America’s founding document is the trial said to be a mandatory act.

Party politics are sure to be front and center in McConnell’s decision. The Senate Republican doesn’t need to worry about his most vulnerable incumbents facing serious primary challengers.

The more pressing issue is whether he makes them take a vote exposing them next November to Democratic attacks that they failed to hand Trump the ultimate punishment for his misdeeds.

What this means though, is the President’s team can subpoena ANYBODY to testify before Congress, and the list is long and extensive.

In some ways this could be a really GOOD THING, so ten bucks says they won’t do it. Unless they are stupid, and we already know the answer to that.

Tying up the beltway for much of the remaining time in Trump’s first term sounds like a great idea.

Biden Jr. could be subpoenaed right now. Ask yourself why Dems are raining subpoenas while the GOP leaves POTUS unsupported. Sadly, the GOP want Trump to lose in 2020 every bit as much as the Democrats do.

Yeah, that would be in character...do nothing. He should be putting out at least one subpoena a week until the election, there’s plenty to go around. But alas, do nothing, is the mantra of the Republicans, especially those in the Senate.

I’ll predict if there is a vote in the House and the Dems impreach Trump Trump would turn the trial in the Senate into the greatest show on earth.

Is it a civil war when a Democrat thief cries out because he is about to be apprehended by the police?

Is it purely Party politics when a Democrat thief cries out because she is about to be apprehended by the police?

Is it fighting for socialism when a Democrat thief cries out because he is about to be apprehended by the police?

Is it journalism when Democrat thieves coverup for other Democrat thieves?

It’s not about Trump, it’s about the cover of darkness they need to operate.
It’s a lot easier to be Corrupt when people's attention is elsewhere.
Why else would Nancy and her coven of Globalists declare an impeachment inquiry
(without a vote) and immediately follow it with a recess?

Excellent points.

Plan is to take two weeks off (They just got back from a long August recess but Pelosi’ said lets have another, lol) while having heavily scripted “town-hall” meetings to fake public support. Media, including FOX will pimp-out all sorts of push-pulls siding with impeachment. Dems get back and hold more hearings. Find results of hearings, including the whistleblower, to be air tight. With the help of media, condition enough people to hold impeachment vote, next year as they want to drag these issues all the way to election. Impeach Trump next Spring or Summer. All depends if they can fool enough people and their sensitivity analyses agree they should do it.

Don’t you find that odd?

No, I don't.

PDJT knows at this point the GOPe does not have his back.

I'm looking at you Rmoney and Lee!

He could hold what would be a de facto summary judgement hearing.

Do it now, not later. I don't want to live through a 12 month kabuki dance.

Subpoena as witnesses those advocating the mess and then vote to dismiss the bill of impeachment as a partisan political stunt before it arrives.

Do something to put an end to this country's misery.

The Dems and their media allies are busy setting the narrative while the Senate GOP sleeps. Frankly, it’s hard not to see the GOP as co-conspirators at this point. That so many GOP base voters are unwilling to face that ugly truth is a big problem.

How about an atomic bomb thrown into this impeachment mess.

Imagine if RBG were to (God forbid!) pass away or announce her retirement in the next few weeks. No more media impeachment nonsense.

The dems and media would declare Trump could not nominate anyone. He would just laugh in their faces.

Is it really about impeachment? Or a tactic to allow the House to get access to documents that might contain material of political use to Trump opponents - with the ‘benefit’ that refusing to provide the demanded documents is potentially an impeachable process itself.

Better, he can pull a Sheets Byrd and simply dismiss if he can find 50 votes (with Pence the tie breaker). I think he may have about 47 right now. If the charges are as frivolous as we think they will be, he should be able to find 3 more.

The vote on Kavanaugh sunk several Democrats. They should hold the trial.

Impeachment didn’t hurt Clinton any.

If McConnell delays this until after the 2020 election, and the Republicans take back the house, can the new Republican house vote to rescind the articles of impeachment? If so, I’d love to see how the left reacts to that.

Democrat overreach (on display in spades last week with Schitt's wet dream), public sentiment showing disgust with this coup, and the 3 Russiagate bombs due momentarily will shred the democrat's case and taste for impeachment.

Pelosi will have a clear case that a full-fledged impeachment destroys the party in 2020 and beyond. The Squad and rabids won't like it, but these events will drain the rabid's support, in favor of keeping their jobs.

NO IMPEACHMENT. The turtle was wise to refuse to address hypotheticals.

One other factor that should scare dems is DJT's mention of Crowdstrike in the Ukraine call. He's going deep to secure a payback that's twice as strong and twice as wide that will include YOU Mr and Mrs democrat congressman. DJT can play hardball better than you.

He does not take kindly to unfair, unjust, unfounded accusations. Payback is coming. Be forewarned. Me and 70 million voters share his anger. Nov. '20 can't come soon enough.

McConnell has already said if he is sent Articles of Impeachment from the House, he will be obligated to conduct a trial. That doesn’t necessarily means he can’t stage a “Dead on Arrival” trial the same way the Democrat-led Senate did with Clinton’s impeachment.

This is baloney. If the House impeaches McConnell has said the trial is on.
